This kind of talk makes me think about my friend who WAS a republican, laqbeled himself as a republican etc.

Then all these scandals started happening and he couldnt bring himself to say republicans were crooks, so he just says "they are all crooks".

    see what I mean?

On one hand as soon as you operate at that level of power there are always back corridors and deals and so forth, and successful politicians know how to navigate them - ultimately it comes down to where the ethics are...are you working for the common good, even if you are doing some rather "unethical" things in a partisan light or are you working for the good of particular interests? It's always going to be a mix of course but surveying the current crop of leaders we have from both parties, well it seems that very few of them are working for the common good. And who they ARE working for is that top 2% with the cash.

    Sucks.

Or, I'm sorry, were you talking to TBO because he, as well as a number of other people in this thread, share my point?

Me? TBO? Them? Or just me... as usual.

TBO I 100% agree with you.

I wish we could put limits on how long you could actually be a politician. I think it's odd that we allow people who make being a politician a career choice, make decisions for all of us. I think a better route would be voting in people who come from successful backgrounds in regular careers who have a genuine interest in public service - somehow that term has turned into public self-service.

so, exactly are you against Hillary? It's not because she's a woman. It sounds like you just don't like the dynasty factor. Is that it?

I'll vote the same as I've always voted. The best person for each job, regardless of what party they're from.

Have any one of you managed to change an opposing opinion from another here?

The worst part about these threads is the intolerance of those with different opinions.

    jk, what's up man.

I changed my view on the war long ago but that wasn't really due to anyone in particular from NT, just growing a little older and a little wiser I guess.

And, you have an extremely valid point.

    jk,

You're absolutely right and I find this fact funny about internet debates in general. Like we're actually going to make the policy or something. Waste of time really, pretty much the same as any other topic here - but with name calling - and aneurysms!
