From Seth's blog...
"This is the vision at the very heart of our brand," said London 2012 organising committee chairman Seb Coe.
"It will define the venues we build and the Games we hold and act as a reminder of our promise to use the Olympic spirit to inspire everyone and reach out to young people around the world.
"It is an invitation to take part and be involved."
If you are paying money to someone who talks like this, may I suggest you stop? And if you work for someone who talks like this, time to look for a new gig.
:)

A great logo doesn't mean anything until the brand makes it worth something.
-------------Couldn't agree more!
Three days ago plamenskis didn't mean anything to most of you but it's a swear word now. ;)

For being brave? Are you f-in kidding me?
That meglomaniac knew the consequences. It either takes off or bombs. It bombed and now they are gonna pay the price.
That's what happens when there is a room full of old people trying to be cool and come up with ideas.

The swoosh has an active fluid feel to it matching what the brand strives to represent, Nike would not "Just do it" with this blocky mess.
Apples are long since related to thought and pondering, questioning since the discovery of gravity. I'm sure even you've heard the story of Sir Issac Newton.
It is these similarities and individual knowledge elements that make such simple marks appear as powerful branding.

i dunno seth, what about logos that end up looking like some sort of sex act?
are brand names supposed to grow to be so strong that people forget it looks like an adult receiving oral sex from a child?
or can we accept that there are both poor and well executed designs?
at some point we have to admit to ourself that the presence of nodes of a vector object does not a logo or a brand make.

And you all thought that little shitty logo was harmless!
I would have expect the community here to stand by the wolff just for the sake of being brave but hey ... now the public thinks they all can claim their 400 grand!

articles like this: http://news.independent.co.uk/uk… are worrying me a lil...
... i mean... the average joe/business bob is going to see this graphic...the outrage behind the cheap ridiculousness of it...
... THEN THEY'LL SEE THE PRICETAG... and there's goes the value of a well conceived identity.
:(
I'm being dramatic... I know.

(Jun 7 07, 09:48)It all makes sense now.
Enjoy New York while it lasts, because apparently we'll all be blind in 2012.
