i'm surprised that anyone would say something needs to be removed from our constitution or bill of rights. that you hate guns is perfectly reasonable...many people do.
just surprised, but i respect your opinion...we all have one :)
- Jaline0
well there are also many sexist things about the Bill of Rights and other documents but they're never going to be changed either way.
- 305artist0
Wasnt the bill of rights made out of hemp?
I wonder if you could smoke it...
- Jaline0
Interesting, IRNlun6. You have some good points. Although, I would say that a gun is more dangerous from further away, or could be perceived to be more dangerous to people because it is ingrained in their minds that guns are really scary.

I hate... hate.... HATE guns.
I've known people who have accidentally shot their legs off.
I've known people who have used them to commit suicide...
... and two of my friends in high school were both murdered w/guns. One via a drive-by (in my neighborhood)... and one via an argument on the basketball court (in my old apartment complex)...
... I can't think of one solid use for a gun in my life.
I mean... you're taught to leave the safety on... unloaded and locked away for 'safety' which makes sense...
... but wtf do I have the gun for if I can't get to it in a matter of seconds when I need it?
The only way a gun is a 'protection' is when it's loaded and on your side - like a cop would have it... else - it's more of a danger than anything...
- -sputnik-0
there's a process for changing them jaline...and they were. many laws were for women, minorities etc. it's a living document.
if the majority of the country wanted to pass a bill limiting or eliminating guns, they could. i don't think it'll ever happen, but theoretically it could if enough ppl agreed.

anyone know what kind of weapon was used?
- mattyd040
as much as i see wherre you guys are coming from, gun control wouldn't do a damn thing here and you all know it. it would be like the prohibition and people would find a way. especially the fucking tapped people who walk into a dorm and classroom and kill 32 people.
- version30
tk, you're missing my point. i grew up in a gun house, grew up with gun friendly family friends etc
i was taught to respect and use them properly.
if someone wanted to fight me, a gun is the last thing i would use.
i'd rather beat you like a man.
justifying the use of automobiles to overshadow the number of people they kill seems like a johnny cochran technique, but to each their own. no one hear will do dick about gun laws, so feel free to keep blowing smoke.
the problem today was not a gun, but someone with one. remember that

material
(Apr 16 07, 12:02)There's talk of it being some sort of semi or fully aotumatic weapon.
- Jaline0
You're right, sputnik, but there are just so many specific things ingrained into American society that it will be extremely difficult to change.

*joins 305artist in smoking America's most cherished document
*looks up groggily to see v5 pointing a fuck-off-mean-looking gun down at the urbanite wastrels
*damps pants

And now some of the news caster douche bags are trying to stir the shitstorm. Asking questions about safety and preparation. Here we go with upping the ante on fear culture.
harlequino
(Apr 16 07, 11:55)so true.
no gun law, no campus security is gonna stop some fuck that just wants to kill random people.
- Jaline0
Anyway, I still believe it's better to not have guns than to have them. And this includes people around you, not just yourself, otherwise it wouldn't work. So it makes sense that people in the U.S. prefer to have guns in their houses - because the people around have them too. It's different here in Canada, since most people don't carry guns.
- bcline0
last i heard, there were 30 students dead. very, very sad. terrible tragedy.....
- Jaline0
that campus has over 100 buildings, so it would've been difficult for police to find the gunman anyway...
- Crouwel0
let me put it simple. i may be a wee bit emotional now, but i try to put common sense in what i am going to say:
you can not expect for ANY citizen to behave themselves at all time in their lives. THEREFORE the government has the holy duty of keeping extremely (directly) lethal AWAY from their citizens.
"so, you think this won't happen without guns?"
ofcourse not. but let me put it in perspective; the amount of gruesome slaughters with said devices in the US is almost infinitly larger then say, Europe.
so YES, in the end you do not have to blame guns, because that is ridiculous, guns are brainless pieces of metal. Blame the government which allows guns to be flooded all over its population.
which imho is the most retarded (sorry i simply lack a better word) policy a country can have.
Make guns inaccessible.

no gun law, no campus security is gonna stop some fuck that just wants to kill random people.
pavlovs_dog
(Apr 16 07, 12:04)precisely
- Crouwel0
no gun law, no campus security is gonna stop some fuck that just wants to kill random people.
pavlovs_dog
(Apr 16 07, 12:04)so you are simply saying that it is not the gun policy but that the US has an infinite larger number of "fucked up people" then most other countries in the western world?
Why doesn't this happen as MUCH in Europe as it does over there?
If we only knew.
