the guy standing behind the barrier is the owner of the car

It was Daniel Sadek's Enzo and I can tell you this with confidence and first-hand knowledge - it was all a publicity stunt. Just like they intentionally crashed the Carrera GT while filming and made a big deal about it.

(Mar 28 07, 11:16)First of all - I've seen the "CGT" with my own eyes, my firm does work with Chicago Pictures. For everyone who thinks this was unintentional I can also say that the "Carrera GT" they crashed was a Toyota MR2 under the body. That was publicity stunt #1.
As for number two, this particular crash we're discussing now - this was actually a real Enzo, however crashing a 750K usd car and get 250K usd worth of damages and gain what, 15 million worth of publicity in nearly every magazine, blog and forum in the world? The guy who floated that very idea is sitting 10 paces away from my desk.
You want a copy of the pitch?

when will millionares/billionares learn from a distance a wrecked enzo looks like a tuned ford fiesta...
someone should start a rental service in which the rich can abuse low end imports with big exhaust pipes and lots of stickers...
- madirish0
i posted this link originally not to demonstrate how enzo's are artificially valuated, but to get out of jox what really went down.
mission accomplished.
;)

"johnnyquest, i've read your post three times but I still don't understand what you're saying"
i was simply saying someone should allow the rich to waste their money on wrecking low-end tuner imports rather than destroying their million dollar exotics... it's mind boggling how many of those cars get wrecked too much car for those owners to handle...
any car over 120mph becomes a missile... i drove my dad's 72 dodge charger to school once I was never allowed to go over second gear... that thing could easily hit a 100+ in second gear... and that beast was a lovely white trash primer grey...
cheaper alternatives for people who crave speed.parking that thing was a bitch too... longest part of that car is the front end.

my friend teaches racing on weekends at a track in maryland and he's seen some fools wreck some very expensive cars quite spectacularly, some literally first-hand. he has to ride with people and certify them, and had to get pulled out of day old ferrari with the jaws of life after the guy rolled it.

jox, I agree with you about the publicity stunt. 1.5 mil for the amount of publicity they are getting is a damn good deal. Plus, maybe insurance will cover it, who knows.
My last co. spent 1.5 mil on a product, not to make money, they knew it would never make it back. But it brought attention to the product line, was in at least 10 magazines, conventions, news stories, it's going to be on HGTV I want that (I'll post the air date when I know) and recorded over 65 million impressions in less then year and still going. Is it selling, hell no, but it was well worth it. this could be the same thing.

I just wrote an incredibly long post to respond to that, but I deleted it and figured.. why bother.
