It's not a bad business idea.

let's never speak of this again

I'm curious - why are you negative toward this? Because you believe they can't do the job or because you're afraid they might steal your job eventually?
This is common practise when it comes to coding and dev - but you can't outsource someone to create a folder for you? What's the big deal?

The $8.25 per hour bit...
- material-10
maybe I can catch up on the freelance with these guys?
- forcetwelve0
the way it's marketed — the fact that they mention "designers from india" already shows that they are capitalising on a place where labour is cheap.

"The $8.25 per hour bit..."
x2

It just undercuts what the uneducated consumer thinks that this type of service is worth..bad enough us freelancers have to deal with "Well, my son Jimmy built a website in his freshman class..."
- jox0
So?
It's just healthy competition in its purest form. You wouldn't believe how much gets outsourced to India as far as programming goes, I don't hear about anyone in the west being fired over it.Are you really afraid of starving because someone in India knows how to do Flash?

Isn't this how TemplateMonster and other template sites get their stuff?
I know a lot of software UI type things are created this way.
- jox0
Because let's face it - it's not rocket science here. And I seriously doubt they're getting any huge projects.
I don't seen anything wrong using them for a folder, a flash presentation or a small company website.
- moldero0
outsourcing should be illegal.
- jox0
LOL you people.

if their customer service is as good as the dude that just hung up the phone on me from "Bell Canada" – we're safe.
Yeah... calling from Canada...
suuuuuuure you are.
- TheBlueOne0
jox, I hear you..I just like being that canary in the coalmine..
Quality will always be quality..
*canary falls over, choking o nminimum wage...
- harlequino0
LOL you people.

(Feb 16 07, 13:36)I tend to agree with you, jox. This is something of a non issue. Real agencies and brands are not about to start outsourcing to this kind of thing.
- moldero0
"So?

jox"its not competition as much as it is major undercutting, if our average rate was $10 per hour then it might be considered competition.
- jox0
I couldn't agree more BlueOne. Quality always comes first. And 99,5% of all clients who are worth doing anything for also believes in that.
In the same way BMW sells 100 times more cars than Kia does.
Which is why I don't see the big deal here as long as we maintain quality in what we do.
