Okay, so I made some updates and added a new piece that I made last night...
(Larger version of new piece)
I fixed all the dodgy things people mentioned so far except the whole navigation moving around thing.
I kept our kid in the portfolio, but sent him to the back.
Tell me your thoughts.

...the article that i designed it for, it talks about how clash songs are now used on commercials...they didn't do that until joe strummer died...

You're right. I forgot about that. I'm so dissappointed with so many of my favorite people in music.

If anyone here or in interviews questions your MTV/political work, ask them if they've heard of Milton Glazer.
Here's a whole directory of editorial illustrators I just found on google:

if you're going to keep the bush image, i have to agree with what someone else said. i didn't see the dunce cap at first either.

He's your president and you all voted for him why are you ashamed to put his face somewhere?
Needless to say I think he's a fucking moron, but that aside. If you put a pic of Che in a colourful piece and used it in your folio, no one would be telling you it's too political and to leave it out...

I would probably be more likely to hire you because of the GW piece
Rand
(Dec 14 06, 13:35)and would you want to work in a pro-bush office anyway?

"...and you all voted for him..."

(Jan 9 07, 02:20)obviously no grasp on the political system in america

okay, just read through the whole thread... even if it is neither pro- nor con-, i'd keep it in. certainly won't hurt, imho.
there's a dodgy line break on your first intro paragraph, ff xp.
nice work and good luck!
- mattyd040
oh, and im working on making the images clickable so you can see a larger version at the moment.

DON'T ditch the political work.
The worst thing that can happen to a creative is censorship for reasons of acceptance of financial gain. You do not want to work at a place that makes an issue out of this anyway.

i think it depends where he's sending his resume.
i think matty needs to decide what kind of places he wants to work. nyc is an expensive city to live in.
and not everyone can be milton glazer(did you hear about his sexist comments recently?)
- mattyd040
cool, ill go back and add an extra level to the stroke.
- mattyd040
yeah, i did do the henry one. good memory. i just left it out because i thought i had enough sports stuff in there.
and, thanks for the compliments. much appreciated.
- mattyd040

First and foremost before I say anything, your portfolio that you present to a potential employer should be clean and clear of all political messages and work.
That GW image on the first page will kill you.
Trust me.

(Dec 14 06, 13:30)could not disagree more. if a future employer can't eat that, it's not a place you want to work.
