I'm going to NYC next month to hit the streets and find some full-time work. What do you guys think of my portfolio? I limited the work I put in and included what I think are my strongest pieces. But, should I add more? Focus on a certain style of design? What are agencies looking for?
As always, any help/advice is appreciated.

First and foremost before I say anything, your portfolio that you present to a potential employer should be clean and clear of all political messages and work.
That GW image on the first page will kill you.
Trust me.

I dig your work and your site
but I have no idea what agencies are looking for
- MLP0

k0na, i hear what you are saying on the bush image, but, its designed to be void of opinion. are you saying i should just scrap it all together?
MLP, hmm, ill have to look into that. it worked on mac IE when i tested it, but i didnt test it on netscape. thanks for the heads up.

Taking a look at the rest of the work you got some really strong stuff.
I like the site too btw.
Nicely done.

....Ireelevant. Including him in an image is instantly political. Don't shot yerself in the foot matey.

I would lose the bush image, and maybe the ?TV thing too. I think they stand out from the rest - the rest being much stronger. And also they come before the other, stronger work, which doesn't help.
Looks good though.

yo your work is beautiful
but I agree with everyone else about the Bush thingy
scrap it
the rest of your work will suffice
well done

mattyd, I totally get the message and think it's great, but when you have 200 other people sending in their resumes for the same gig you gotta take every precaution.
If you really want to keep it I'd throw it way in the back. :)
In my last two jobs we've turned away great candidates because they either had political messages on their site, or blogs that had no business being in their portfolio.
Good luck!

not to say kona isn't right in the majority of cases, but I would probably be more likely to hire you because of the GW piece
- skelly0
Oh and I noticed the Next and previous arrows jump up and down on certain projects. not sure if they're supposed to be consistent.
- mattyd040
okay, the critics have spoken, ill take it down. but, damn, i think its one of my best pieces in terms of design. haha, oh well. im over it.
and thanks for the comments. much appreciated.
