Nice work, mattyd. I like your presentation and folio.
I also disagree with the comments about political pieces. The people who are rock stars in this business are the ones who aren't afraid to take a stand.
Secondly, taking a stand isn't even an issue here. This is a piece you did for a magazine during a very politically charged time. It says nothing about you...just your work. And it's good work. Don't take it out.

i like it,
as far as corporate
they all support bush , so to say he made a mistake, then you say all corporations have made a mistake because he is the president of the parent corporation.
,
very nice work tho!

thats what im doing now jesse, but i want to make the move to nyc now and a little stability would help that cause out. otherwise, id be content sleeping til 3 like it do now.
- mattyd040
im gonna hurry up and make these changes so QBN can then put it up in the NTB/certify it.

Actually stability is good... You're just 2 years out of school arentcha? Give life some time, as well your work. Don't give up because the worst part is over.

i hear ya pony. the good thing about all these crits is that they are relevant. they aren't mundane that its not worth doing, yknow?
but, the end game would probably be working in an agency (but not one of those leave work at 2am and be back by 10am type of deals--if that exists) in manhattan. i tried to beef up the look and feel of my sports pieces so that they have more of a unique feel to them which hopefully some agency with a sports account could use. but, i know i can apply my style to almost anything when given a brief.
so, i guess im not gonna be picky in where i work, i just want it to be challenging and not corporate.

given the prominence of MTV in NYC, I wonder if that work isn't more 'politically' damaging than the bush piece.

i like your stuff - i hate the G Bush stuff. forget it - it doesnt belong in your folio.
which ATTIK did you work at? SF?
- mattyd040
i used to do that, morilla, but with this design the descriptions can only be so long. damn standards.
but, i definitely agree with what you're saying.
- mattyd040
haha, got some people on ignore, jevad?
- mattyd040
oooh, didn't think of that, material. good point.
though, i do think that most people will see the point of view im bringing up. and, it wasn't a personal piece, it was designed for an article about MTV's lack of music.
but thanks for raising that. i wouldn't have thought anything of it.

what's worse is that by definition G.W. Bush is not a democratically elected leader and no one seems to really care.
- morilla0
i hear ya, still looks good

Okay cool, I was wondering if it was meant to sort of stand out but just slightly, haha.
You're not making changes to Prev/Next "live" are you?
You should have like a _TEST, _QA folder before you do any updates to see how it reacts... this isn't a slight, I hope you are.
I'll have time to help you out with that either later tonite or this weekend if you need any.
