my pleasure flavorful.
i don't really know which method is the best but my US gf (i live in nyc now) learnt it for a few years in school too and had a pretty good level then forgot most of it due to lack of practice.
now we once in a while "speak" french together (catch phrases mostly, retarded stuff too) and it seems to be enough to bring back most of what she had learnt..
so if you've studied it before, listening to french on a regular basis once in a while might be a good start before you get into all the grammar again.
or obviously hang out with french people would be the best..i think i'd recommend watching recent french movies with subtitles over listening to cds. from what i hear around me these audio training things sound great if you want to speak french the way it was spoken in the 50's..
last thing, try this :

it's a bit too much sometimes (a lot of vocabulary you'll never need imho) but it might help you get used to it again. I know people who really like it.
hope this helps!

spl33nidoru, thanks for your help as well!!
I've been thinking about re-learning French and was wondering what would be hte beset way to go a bout it.
Like trying to find someone locally to teach me, or getting some cd's?

flavorful,
i learned from living in a rez full of students from France, that French Canadians actually speak MORE french than them. they have so man english words in their vocabulary... that and "verlant" (street slang) is horrible.
