good question there, dopepoper...
Dexter's step dad is indeed a 'loving man' for his and his own... but it's hard to judge him this early though as there isn't exactly a lot of info to be gained from the flashbacks thus far - except that Dexter's 'dad' realizes Dexter needs some serious special attention...
... due to his (step Dad) being a cop and seeing so much violence - you can almost understand why he took Dexter down this road...
... he's seen enough people in his time to realize who's fucked up... and who's evil... and he's trying to channel Dexter's 'fucked up' part... so it doesn't become 'evil'...
... what a mind trip!!

indeed.
I like the flashbacks too, they are informative, tho I'm having trouble deciding whether his foster Dad is a good role model, or a bad one.

I think the Ice Truck killer is a cop or someone really close to Dexter and his work who would have time enough to get to know Dexter and know who he is...
.. cuz that is the big question - who's the Ice Truck killer and how the heck does he know who Dexter REALLY is?

interesting to thikn about Ram, but that would be as irritating as that twist ending in High Tension, which kinda ruined a great flick. How would have he had the severed head thrown at himself that time, and why? It would have had to involve someone else. He also ius never in a ice cold invironment needed to do that kind of thing... and to just come out and say he was later on would be excruciating.

ramanisky... i think your theory is a little too loaded...
... if they write Dexter into a multiple-personality... that would really kill his 'human' side... which in turnkills the hero aspect of him in my opinion...

I think Dexter and the Ice truck killer might be the same person? no?
hmmmmm .......

It's a very interesting show indeed. Creepy, and borrows a lot from American Psycho. I do wish they steer clear of the saviour aspect of Dexter and show him to be more of a real deviant than a vigilante crimefighter. But perhaps in time I'll care less about that.

Why cant Canadians can't access the Showtime website?

Thanks, I didn't know that. I was looking forward to a new ep this week but I had already seen it.
I think it moves pretty quickly. I like how it unexpectedly went into different areas like his girlfriend, etc.

anyone see ep. 3 on sunday?
I've noticed plenty of shows as of late like to do the 'soothing music' to slow motion 'daydream' scenes...
The last episode ended this way, w/Dexter, his girlfriend and her children all gathered inside the car he just 'borrowed' from the impound...
... and of course... there's a tad bit of Dexter's inner-narrative to finish it all off... and done to a level of creepiness that I just can't wait for next week... I may even go and purchase the on-demand ep. 4 this afternoon...
and you can watch ep's 1 & 2 online now (if you're in america or don't have american websites blocked)...

Showtime and HBO both do early on demand sometimes. I guess it's a way to catch those viewers that aren't really into it yet, or the ones who haven't seen it. It's not a bad idea, but I'm not sure how it's determined what shows or what episodes get early releases.

I really like the show so far. I don't get the schedule though. The new ones are supposed to come on Sunday night but Ep 3 has been onDemand all last week.?.
Anyone know why?

Nice Chief! Definitely sweet. And now that I see that Julie Benz is in the show I'm getting more interested...

I loved the first two episodes. The guy from 6 Ft. Under is great. Very different role. I also love the flashbacks with his father.

the title sequence is slick, haven't seen an episode yet.
