dobs... my standpoint on no brakes is because you don't need any. my riding style changed 1000% when i started riding a track bike a few years ago. my mind is always 100 feet ahead of what i'm doing. it turns into a whole man/machine thing and you just pay attention a lot more to where you can stop as needed with slowing your legs down.
when i went from riding a single speed to fixed, it was like the option of the brake was removed, so without that crutch, you have to adjust how you ride. if you're going to ride a brake, stay on a single speed.

hahaha.
When I worked for Waterford my big boss was Richard Schwinn, we used to have a race through the small town where the factory was and the Schwinn Museum would come through once a year. We got to ride all these crazy ass old vintage bikes. That high wheel is no punk.

conversions can be fun, but it's tricky getting the gear ratio and chain length right for non-track dropouts, as you can't slide the rear wheel forward/backward. have you ever done a conversion before?
for fixies i've got a pista, a specialized langster, and i just ordered a custom rivendale (yay!) that i won't have for another 6 months (not so yay).
