The Bible is the #1 Best Selling work of Fiction, ever. There is so much in the Bible we can't prove, but for many its from this book that they derive their faith. Believe whatever you want, but don't condemn a movie because it offers a different interpretation of religious history.
I heard somewhere there was a huge protest for "The Last Temptation of Christ" when it first came out, and I believe it helped out the movie in theatres, many didn't know about it but the contraversy created a huge buzz. Is the same thing happening again?

Jaline & megatron:
Waving away the Bible as a "work of Fiction" is silly, and a tremendous display of ignorance. The assertion is grossly inaccurate. Before parroting something you heard someone else say, you may actually want to take the time to investigate the issue for yourselves. My investigation led me to conclude that the Bible is not only factual and accurate, but also inspired.
The Bible is a collection of books which include, poetry, prophecy, apocolyptic writing and historical narrative. So, calling it "fiction" demonstrates a complete misunderstanding of what it's composed of to begin with.

flag... let me make this easy on you so you can stop wasting your finger-energy...
folks - I've read your anti-Biblical speak for a few years now... perhaps the lot of you may want to stop for a moment...
... and read the Bible for yourselves before you form an opinion on it.
Once you've read it - you'll probably need to read it a couple more times... then perhaps do a little extra historical / archealogical research... then READ IT AGAIN...
... then come back and give us a formed opinion.

More intellectual honesty.
Less shameless ignorance.

Thank you, PonyBoy.
Well put.

Don't bother me with facts, I just like to say whatever comes to my mind.

What I mean is: I don't want to get into all the details (we have all talked about this excessively), but you can't say everything in the Bible is historically accurate, and I think it's silly to get so worked up about a work of fiction like Brown's book.

And many people have actually read the Bible. I haven't read all of it, but I did do some studying in classes.

yes - getting worked up over Brown's book is a waste of time.

Well then say what you mean, Jaline, instead of spouting foolishness.
I can and do say that the Bible has stood up against the critics and come clean as historically accurate. And with every turn of the Archaeologist's spade, this truth is reinforced. Now, what specific historical issue do you have trouble with in regards to the Bible's representation of it?
DaVinci Code. Agreed, it's a silly work of fiction. But many people are simple, Jaline. They will view this movie and latch on to the half-truths that sound very much like legitimate history and they'll run with it. Should people be protesting it? Of course not, that's just silly. It's just a movie. However, I personally like to be able to use the falsehoods about Jesus in this movie as a springboard for sharing the actual truth about Jesus.

Jaline, it is intellectually dishonest to make strong opinions about a subject when the subject has not been studied.
- Jaline0
Yeah, well I guess we'll never know since we didn't see it with our own eyes.
I'm just glad people are beginning to think for themselves instead of following a book. I find it interesting how people make fun of religions like scientology, when all religions are created in basically the same way, except they are put forth in a manner that suits the time they were created in, and suit the people who made them more so than it is for the greater good.
There is quite a lot of discrimination in that book. People interpret things differently anyway.
