yeah, we pack the day with rushed shit work, and then stay late so we can spend some quality time on the good projects.
i'm torn on looking elsewhere though, as the pay is good, and *some* of the projects are very cool.
and I'm 27 yrs old with a family, so i've resigned myself to work hard and take some knocks early on in order to jump up to the next level at the next place. the job market isn't strong enough to be so picky, although I'd love to have that luxury

fluctuations within a continuum twixt moderate satisfaction and vein popping rage interspersed with a rare endorphin rush of cosmic felicity

This quote is from the Guardian.
"by the time designers reach their late 30s, the majority have moved on to less stressful jobs."
How true do you think this is?
- mr_snuggles0
I think most people "settle" by the time they hit their mid-late 30's. Money and family generally becomes a larger issue than creative pursuits. The majority of people realise they peaked in art college and will probably never be the next "hot" art or creative director...

Same as most of you. Frustrated, underpaid, and over worked.
Any peeps from Boston know of any hobs around? Pref in Boston and with a design/marketing firm?

I am happy to a degree but I want to do more cool stuff I am held back a little here and I need to move on to challenge my self. I have been to see some people but it's a matter of time and it's quite frustrating that I can't move yet. I get a good wage but there is more to life than money.

Everyone has their good days and their bad days, but I'd have to say I'm relatively happy right now. I'm getting to do some good work (even if it is for boring clients) and there is little control over how I choose to design or code. Its just me and 2 other designers. One girl kind of acts as the art lead, and I'm sort of the tech lead guy. I like reading up on new issues and solving problems on my own. It makes me feel smart.
My dream is to be a stock photographer, so I work on that after work in my free time. Its a creative outlet that keeps me alive, sane, and happy.

I am so fucking lucky to be able to do what I do for a living. Even though my eyes are burning like crazy right now, I am very very happy.
*waits for someone to vomit on my behalf, as usual.

step 1) form a union
step 2) give up
step 3) drink your sorrows away with dick gephardt

i agree with you brooke.
i mean not to belittle the hours and difficulties of our industry but geez have you lot seen what the majority of the world has to do for a living?
i am at this second messing about on the internets whilst waiting for a render to finish. i've spent the whole day making blobs and scratches animate. it was fun!
