hey shellie..
just to chime in here, i coulda sworn you were married too..
i thought you'd said something about it a few years back..
(good lord, how long have we been on NT anyhow..)
anyways, don't mean to pry...if you weren't i must've gotten confused with someone else, and if you were, but aren't anymore, then it's none of my business anyhow...
as far as this dude is concerened..i'd pretty much drop it...he's probably a cool guy and all, but its also very likely he's stuck in a wicked huge rut in his life, and he's got to get himself together.
also, it can be pretty demoralizing for someone in that position to see how far you, a younger woman have gotten so far...
it sucks, but thats kind of the way it is sometimes..don't mean you can't be friends, but it might be a bit dicey..
cheers shellie..

Also, it's tough to get out of a rut that pays well. I have a friend that graduated with me and he now works for "The Joe" and makes bank. So, now that he's up to 35K he's not willing to enter the market (no pun intended) at all.
Hope it works out.

if it was a punk rock volunteer thing maybe he is against capitalism and that's why he doesn't vibe with you working for an ad agency.
- shellie0
I am not married and I am not divorced. I've gone over this before, but hopefully now people will stop asking?
- shellie0
anzelina, but he says he hates his job at trader joes and he actually did mention he hopes to get it together and do something better. He said he liked childreand and was hoping to do something with children and art, so we had like a 30 second exchange about working with kids at LA county high school of the arts. but then he immediately shot out "im not qualified for that"... which is dumb because you dont need a masters or any special certifications to teach at a private school.
BAH.

Shells do you plan on getting married and having youths?
- Tara0
shellie,
you seem down to earth and have a lot going for you so you can't blame a guy who is working at a grocery store for being intimidated. I mean this in a nice way. Don't underestimate the male ego and how you being so confident and driven could make him feel like he's not good enough for you. don't worry about it- there is nothing you could have done or said differently. noone came make someone who is insecure feel better about themself.

it doesnt really matter does it sean?
i think im figuring that out just like everybody else.

shellie a lot of guys have much more delicate egos than women.
he is probably intimidated, which is no fault of yours.
if you're really into him try to set up a face to face hang-out and he will see how awesome you are and that you're not about rubbing his face in your success.
- uhohseangettio0
sorry to invade shellie...
- shellie0
HOWEVER...
have you guys ever run into someone you havent seen in y-e-a-r-s. and the first thing they say is "SOOOO IM DOING _____... WHAT ARE YOU DOING?"
What the hell? I've gotten that one, too. I like to ask if people are living happy and healthy. That's all that matters... money isn't everything to most people. I guess it means a lot to me but it doesn't have to be the same to everyone else to feel like theyre living a good life.
It seems as though in the states especially, your life revolves around how much money you can make and how much stuff you can have. But really all you get is living in debt, unless you're one of the new lucky ones who can manage to pay houses and cars off in cash.
Recently I had a conversation about dept with a friend and he said hes already 100k in the whole because he went to art centre on loans. ouch.

what if the guy, never even thought about your situation? what if this is all in your mind? what if he doesn't really care abotu what you are doing these days? what if he doesn't see that working at an Ad agency is the ultimate goal at all?
I didn't really read more than one post here, but maybe he just run out to get some fruit or something :)
