I admit I'm guilty of not reading the fine print. I'm not saying Apple did something illegal, but it's lame and somewhat misleading.
They upgrade the iPod line every six months or so. When I bought the 60 GB model 6 months ago for my girlfriend for $600, it came with many more accessories than mine this week.
I assumed that since they didn't increase the capacity with the new line, that they just lowered the price. I didn't assume they were only cutting out accessories.
I mean the black case would have at least been nice!

very true...i went economy style with the 20 gig and it comes with both cables...if you have usb 2 i suppose it's not that big a deal
- lvl_130
ouch. not sure about what they ship with but that just plain sucks!
sorry ( i realize i am not much help, but more like a voice of unreason : )
- benfal990
can you repeat please?
;)

docks aren't essential. tv cables are sold seperately, as noted on the site and box.
- Kidneon0
Why do you need a dock with a remote?
- CyBrainX0
Right now, I only have USB-1 to transfer songs onto the iPod. Do you know how much slower USB-1 is than Firewire when you have gigabytes to move? I would have looked much closer at the fine print if I hadn't bought one for my girlfriend a few months ago. (When they were charging more, but giving you what you needed.)

dude i just bought an ipod and it came with both usb2 and firewire cables...are you not looking under some of the packaging or did they seriously not come with both of those cables?
- scarabin0
ipod photo is such a joke
- CyBrainX0
No, The packaging is about three inches thinner since they lowered the price.
iPod photo is not a joke if you have 60 GB of music on it. I'm not interested in keeping my photography on it.
- scarabin0
and nobody is, that's my point.
- Jaline0
i doubt that one will ever take off

I'll sell you my 60gig for $350 with all the parts.
- Carty0
my 20 gig 3rd gen came with remote, dock, and firewire...
usb 2.0 i bought separately for $20.
bought in ear headphones... they were great till one side stopped working.
apple headphones that came with included remote which the wire pulled so the internals are exposed, as did the ipod headphones.
i use the pod with sony MDR-150'S... full sized.
as for the no dock/remote with 4th gen, its pretty well known that apple did this to move more units. not everyone uses the dock.. although i use it daily, there is always fine print.
i'd expect a new ipod photo version in jan.. with raw capabilites and a dock...
- jevad0
sorry - all are problems that could have been solved simply by reading what was included and what was not...
- CyBrainX0
Just noticed another thing they didn't give me. A simple black case!!
Oh yeah, not that I really care, but they didn't give me the cables to connect to a TV.
Let me guess. If I pay for all the things it shipped with when the price was $600, it would totally make up the difference of $150.

Hey Carty-
I had those in-ear headphones too. And one side of mine stoped working, but I swabbed it with a little alchohol on a Q-tip, and it worked perfectly again after it dried. Try it.

someone buy me an ipod....
- pixelbreaker0
why don't you check what the box includes before you buy it...?
