I'm sure all of you Canadians know what I'm talking about. This has to do with the sponsorship money scandal.

Just a question. Are any of you happy that there may be an election very soon and are any of you going to be changing the party you vote for this time?

  • Solid0

1/ Not happy about another election

    2/ Will vote Liberal (again)

  • Visia0

no, I'm not happy about a looming election. I really couldn't give less of a shit about the sponsorship scandal. If the conservatives don't watch it they're going to bore the public to death with their attempt at taking over goverment.

Paul Martin is by far the most qualified person to run the country, and I might add that he's doing a damn good job so far. Would Stephen "Whiny-Pants" Harper have told the US to FO regarding the missile defence shield? I think not.

Besides, no one who knows anything about Harper would ever vote for him. He's a fucking whiner. He's been to Ottawa 3 times already and when he doesn't get his way he runs back to Alberta crying for his mommy.

He's a total spineless pussy. I can't say how much this guy bitches and whines about how politics run in Ottawa. Well, guess what Stevie: that's your fucking job, deal with it.

I won't even go into the fact that he hates minorities and gays, or that he would have us all praying at work if he got elected. OR that he would sell us to the US at the drop of a hat. I would never vote for him based on the fact that he's a crybaby that can't hold his own in Ottawa so all he ever does is bitch about it on TV.

I really hate that guy, he's such a shitty politician. I wish Preston Manning was still around. Or Joe Clark, now that was a conservative leader I could respect. Hell, even Mulroney was better than Harper.

Stephen Harper == Whining Pussy Crybaby

  • Visia0

oh, I almost forgot. According to Global "News" if there was an election in the spring then it would be a majority conservative goverment.

ROFLAO ! Big surprise that Global is predicting an overwhelming vicotry for their overlords.

Apparently the survey was conducted by some university and they used a whopping 2000 person sampling of the public. Let me guess, everyone you called was in Edmonton or Calgary.

    Dumbasses.

  • Visia0

and one more thing, if the conservatives do by some weird twist of fate form government we'd lose one of the most important people we have working for us. Pierre Pettigrew. He's a scrappy fucker that doesn't take shit from anyone and he's the reason why our export business hasn't collapsed even though the american economy has gone completely into the shitter.

To anyone thinking of voting Conservative (if there's an election) think twice. Who do the conservatives have to act as a foreign relations minister with this resume:

    http://pm.gc.ca/eng/bio.asp?id=3…

Not to mention that sly come hither look.

    Enh? Didn't think so.

  • 2cents0

i will definitely vote liberal again.

  • nLHb0

i will be voting liberal, only because i think they are the lesser of the three evils...

    it friggin sucks :(

  • Solid0

I don't care for Stephen Harper and his 'conservative' values.

The so-called scandal plaguing the Liberal party at present is nothing compared to the thought of having Harper running the country.

I don't think Canadians want another election, and if the Conservatives keep pressing it may very well backfire - instead of a minority Liberal gov't we could end up with a minority Conservative gov't.

  • Visia0

I would predict a majority Liberal government because I think a lot of the NDPers would vote liberal for fear of a conservative goverment.

I would laugh so hard if that happened because Harper would be out. For good this time. He almost quit again last time when he didn't win a majority. Fucking whiner, man I hate that guy.

I think Mackay would get slaughtered too so if the conservatives don't win a majority in the next couple of years then they're screwed.

Once harper is out, Mackay will get his ass kicked and we'd have a majority liberal govn't again (which is fine by me). Then, once the liberals changed the guard I bet Pierre Pettigrew would be ready to run for PM and the conservatives would be stuck trying to beat him with some noOb with no history in federal politics.

Basically, if Harper doesn't do it now then the conservatives are screwed for another decade or more.

cant really say. liberal will clean up again, in BC. out of 79 seats, i would predict atleast 50 will again be liberal. carol james has some valid projections and points, in fact she has opened up my eyes for the NDP party: http://carolejames.bc.ndp.ca/
funny, the predicted districts: fraser north, and van island north - voting NDP.

“This platform is practical and achievable,” party leader Carole James said. “My platform sets a new direction, providing strong public services, fiscal balance, and new opportunities for all British Columbians.”

    – Reduce school class sizes, stop arbitrary school closures.

    – Double the number of apprenticeships in four years.

    – Freeze tuition fees at 2004 levels and restore grants.

    – Re-establish the Ministry of Women’s Equality.

    – Keep BC Hydro public, allow it to develop clean power.

    – Keep ICBC public to hold rates down.

    – Restore BC Ferries to a crown corporation.

    – End the privatization of health care services.

    – Return provincial budget surplus to communities.

    – Restrict exports of raw logs.

    – Scrap the $6-an-hour training wage.

    – Restore the Ministry of the Environment.

    – Continue the moratorium on offshore oil and gas exploration.

    – End corporate and union donations to political parties.

    – Restore free collective bargaining.

    – No new gambling applications.

    – Expand mandate of BC Progress Board to include environment and communities.

    – Establish a public inquiry into the sale of BC Rail.

short term money = i dont care
long term solutions = i do

i'm not for another election but i would vote liberal

aaaand i'm not going to pay my taxes this year

  • Visia0

magic, that platform looks fantastic. If only it were acheivable. She's not taking into account the fact that all those companies she's going to just flip over to Crown Corps. are owned by people that have a lot of money and want to keep it that way.

Hang on to BC Power if you can, I wish Ontario still had public hydro. But in the end that platform is about 75% unrealistic.

Keep in mind the whole idea of a crown corporation is to develop a new industry that the private sector can't do for lack of investment. Like Bell Canada for example. No one could afford to wire the country up so the goverment did it and then eventually waned it off the federal teet.

I think we're in desparate need of more crown corporations, but only as crutches for existing private companies.

Like power for example. If the feds would regulate private power companies to ensure that people aren't getting screwed then we'd be in a better position.

Plus, if the feds set up a crown corp. to develop new clean energy technologies and then sold them off to the private companies we'd be laughing. Unfortunately there's a lot of old people in the nation right now and they all think we should spend money on the military.

    ?!??

What a joke. I say we should disband the military and spen the cash on technologies that we can then give to our private corporations for free and also export to the rest of the world in order to pay off the costs of development.

Hey, come on now - we need at lease ONE working tank .. jeez!

    ;)

  • Visia0

I agree, we do. Unfortunately we spend a lot of cash on that right now and I don't think we even own a tank.

Besides, no one is going to attack us. If they did then where would they setup camp while they plot the demise of the USA?

Mexico sure as hell isn't going to let them cross the border with a nod and a smile.

  • spiralstarez0

    Green Party.

  • magicpatch0

strong and valid points visia, i think that is james' argument it that campbell is following through with his methods by leaving out the majority of the middle class, in turn which are a high percentage of voters. leaving his audience and too many folks behind.

    major points you stated:

    >>I think we're in desparate need of more crown corporations, but only as crutches for existing private companies.

i agree, the problem is not just a simple solution with uncle rory handing out millions of dollars, i think there has to be a committee or legislation introduced to balance both.

    >>Like power for example. If the feds would regulate private power companies to ensure that people aren't getting screwed then we'd be in a better position.

as a whole, province or nation paying taxes twice for something is ridiculous. the majority of the population is still fed by the media (we the peeps) in turn we are creating a paradox - feed middle america(s) with shite, make them affraid, they will then want to feel safe, by dropping more money into something completely senseless.

i think all of the issues address, (doesnt matter by which party) is a good start for our generation to pick up from... and start something new, we'll start seeing it within the next 10-20 years. should be interesting

  • Visia0

I agree Magic Patch. The next 10 years belong to the baby boomers and we're going to see a lot more conservative views. I don't think the conservatives will take power, but the liberals will run a bluer platform in order to cater to the voting majority.

But, after that decade then it's "our time to shine" and I think we'll see some major shifts in how the feds operate. I think then we'll finally be able to see the semblance of a balance between the public and private sectors.

I'm hoping we will at least. If we can get someone like Pettigrew as PM to maintain the economy and someone like, oh, say, David Suzuki running Evironment Canada then we'd have a hell of a team. Two smart people that can work together.

The saddest thing I see right now is that we're in a prime position to show the world that a national economy can not only survive but thrive with the creation of a real green economy sector. And right now we've got all the cash to do it. We're freakin' rich right now as a nation and we're sitting on our hands.

If we were to invest even 10% of the cash we have into green technologies then 10 years from now we'd make it all back 10 fold selling the tech to the rest of the world.

And Martin knows this. If there's anything the man knows how to do it's make cash. Plus, he's shown that he can be trusted to manage the environment as well. So, that tells me that he would be open to the idea of developing a green economy in Canada. If only the conservatives would fuck off and let him do it.

  • sherman0

I am very scared of the upcoming election. Since the major media in the country is right-wing the only ideals people are receiving is the Liberals are bad and the Conservatives are good.

Someone fucking save us from the Conservatives and the shitty news that the Asper family feeds us.

This is a serious time for us in Canada to get out and vote. The Liberals are in shit and we need the NDPs help!

Please tell people to turn off their televisions and become informed before we turn into the USA.

    FUCK

  • sherman0

Sorry, bit of a rant there.

    Good posts guys.
