Thom Mayne / Morphosis fucking rocks. I remember when I was in school Morphosis was like God.
I'm glad he got the Pritzer. Good find ivan_cook.

there was an excellent series on the History Channel that featured the CalTrans project.

So who do you think will be the next recipient? Jean Nouvel maybe?

ssssslick

I agree - their site is nice, though I wish they had larger images
- ivan_cook0
solid - probably not likely, but i'd like to see Zumthor get it.
and your pick?
- Solid0
Hmmm, hard to say - most of my faves have already won:
Koolhaas
Hadid
Herzog + de Meuron
Ando
Portzamparc
Meier.. and the ones that haven't aren't likely to - not yet anyway:
Delugan Miessl
Kazuyo Sejima
Coop Himmelblau.. that's why I said Nouvel - I think he's built enough critically "approved" buildings, been around long enough, and has enough international prominence (I know that's not really one of the "official" criteria :))

I think Eisenman and Tschumi will eventually be recipients .. even though neither has really built .. and maybe Steven Holl .. ?

... Libeskind? LOL there are too many!

I enjoy Morphosis just as much as the next, but formally and materials used...starting to be redundant ala Gehry.
just one little young man's opinion.

maybe Diller + Scofidio later, also.
solid-
you working for a firm up there or doing your own stuff?
got a site? i'd love to see your work. :-)
- ivan_cook0
jondj24 - good to see you here. how've you been?
:-)
kinda agree with you about Morphosis, but it's an easy trap to fall into.
- Solid0
Well, I think it's safe to say they've already peaked - they won't be making any quantum leaps any time soon ..
jondj24: You did Winka Dubbeldam's site? Nice :)
- jondj240
Yeah Ivan...congrats on being short-listed!!! Good luck.

Solid. yeah i did it for her, used to work with her too.

Diller + Scofidio - that's right!
I started out in architecture - but the last couple of years I've moved away from it in terms of work - still follow it though.
No site yet (I know, I suck - nothing really worth showing to be honest :P )
- jondj240
Ivan. Theres another one. ^

thom mayne... yeah, he was like a hero when i was in school too.
i'd like to see peter zumthor win. his work is amazing and pure perfection. the choice of materials to the detailing, so well done.

jondj24: The Euroscraper - that's some fantastic work - well done!
- jondj240
oh thanks a lot...the building and site got mixed reviews on here, i think that is a good thing though.
cheers.

jondj24 as a point. I always loved Morphosis work, especially during the nineties.
Always thought it was more refreshing and coherent than Gehry's or other american deconstructionists. Probably because it lacked, fortunately, the post modern 'heritage' crap from cocaine fueled 80's.
Dutch architecture from the late 90's, early 00's and most recently the new generation of spanish architects became the my central focus of interest...
I haven't accompanied his work recently. But I think this prize is well deserved.More than Zaha Hadid.
