Yesterday I interviewed a jr. He showed up in a wrinkled dirty shirt and had enough excitment to fill a thimble. Why even show up if you're going to be like that?
I don't have tons of experience with interviewing. I've only hired friends in the past... so i needed the practice. But if you dont think we're worth the extra effort to comb your hair... what makes you think we're going to give you a job?
He was an art center graduate. I guess they dont teach kids how to get a job in school. What a shame. Whats with that? Is this normal?
Ok i get the whole "being casual" thing... and if done well it can be appropriate. But for god sakes dont look like you just rolled out of bed.

you should always be professional on an interview... you can't go wrong.

professional and chipper. he was like half dead. i wanted to poke him to make sure he was still breathing.

i guess i didn't get the job.

in a way it does. it's proper edicut. you wouldnt show up to a wedding in your pijammas, or a funeral in hot pink, either.

his book was weak as well. i wasn't impressed. he came in as "I'm a hot illustrator"
so i showed him some illustration and rendering work we've done and how fast it was completed... and he almost fell over.
he's a one trick pony "fine artist" with absolutely no range. thats fine if you're really good at what you do. but, i cant imagine someone commissioning him for work because of his particular style. it was (to me) pretty soulless. And, he was too young to be so set in his ways. Only 8 months out of school.

however, he would have probably gotten the job to do like production work and such if he was really hungry to learn and stoked about it. you have to start somewhere and i was willing to train.

gorbie i skipped right to your name and you didn't disappoint. hahaha.

what is the position you are hiring for shell?
- gruntt0
he was wearing a shirt?

at my old job we had a guy come in who had a lip ring in (I have one too but would never wear it to a damn interview) especially since the job was for web graphics at an online PC retailer. The kid wouldn't stop sweating either I felt really bad for him. But I agree what the fuck are some of these kids thinking?? Being the cool designer can also be professional.

hiring a jr. a mid level and a cd designer. possibly a associate creative director for a superstar. also a sr. flash developer/animator.
all eventually to be in house. i need to fill these positions in the next 6 months definately or im in trouble. sooner rather than later yano? so im starting off early by interviewing now so im not bringing people in the middle of a fire.
- shellie0

if paint stains are cool on jeans... then what's wrong with mustard stains on the shirt?
- shellie0
disclaimer: Shellie can't spell. I totally know this! Without spellcheck my spelling can make most people vomit. My apologies in advance for any other words i might butcher. The end.
