mimio - i can see that you've got some big issues against a supreme being. what are some of your reasons?? What is the main thing that makes you say - "see this proves there is no God."
- Mimio0
I can't prove that there is or isn't a god ...obviously no one can. My main issue is with the people who claim to know the intention and character of a god that is purely based on faith and invention.
- AprilRains0
It's called science.
Why do you say that an internal sense of right and wrong couldn't have come from evolution? There is more proof of evolution than "God". I realize that religion is mostly based on this "leap of faith" but why would anyone rely on that over actual proof?
- jakeyj0
mimio - lets just assume for one second that there is a possibility in this universe that a god could exist. if there was a possibility, and if a god did exist, what would that god have to do to make you know that he existed?
- Mimio0
Create utopia on Earth.
- DutchBoy0
i believe there's a supreme energy form. perhaps a 'god'..
but i am not that arrogant to bother people with my invented rules.
the energy of love is the strongest positive one, if you give lots, it will return to you.
that's my basic belief.
not all that doomtalk that religion tends to freak people out with..
- jakeyj0
my reason for believing is not mostly a leap of faith. my faith is based on cold, hard evidence. and science has had a lot of help proving that to me.
in fact, i wish i had the amount of faith it took to believe in evolution. i would be a much better christian if i had that.
- DutchBoy0
"Create utopia on Earth."
amen!
:')
- jakeyj0
dutchboy - you are correct in saying that doomtalk is associated with religion. the christianity i'm talking about is a relationship, not imposing rules on others to hold them down and exploit them. please try to disassociated true christianity with what you see on the evening news -those people who hold up signs saying the world is going to end or whatever.
mimio - uptopia? what would that prove?
- Mimio0
That this God was all powerful and full of love.
- DutchBoy0
isn't that what god wants?
- Mal0
To judge from the notions expounded by theologians, one must conclude that God created most men simply with a view to crowding hell.
- jakeyj0
just to clarify - if there was a possibility that a god could exist and if he cared about humans, he would create a utopia to prove that he was all-powerful and all-loving. this can be reversed to say that because there is not a uptopia on earth, god is not loving or all-powerful. is this correct?
- Mimio0
Yes, that's what I typed, but no, it can't be reversed. There isn't a utopia for others reasons.
- jakeyj0
such as?
- Mimio0
Cultural and ethnic incongruency..among other things.
Seriously if I had all the answers I'd know all the questions. Jakey make your pointy.
- jakeyj0
god did create a utopia
satan screwed it up
because satan acts in this world does not mean God is not all-powerful or all-loving
God is not an invention
- Mimio0
Great, now all you have to do is prove it.
- AprilRains0
jakeyj, can I ask if your parents are Christian? It seems to me that most religious people are creations of their surroundings. Which isn't necessarily wrong, we all are in a way. But why is it that millions in China believe one thing, millions in India believe in another etc...Did YOUR god design those people who happened to be born in a different geographical area to believe in something other than Him? No, it's because people believe the stories their parents and neighbors told. Why is your God better than any other God....because that is what you were taught to believe not because it's true.
