I haven't thoroughly investigated this site, or what this ministry believes and I don't necessarily support it. I will take more time to look at their presentation later. What they are correct about...
- Our sin nature separates us from a relationship with a perfectly holy God.
- A perfectly holy and just God must punish sin.
- In his infinite love, God sent the perfect provision in Jesus Christ and the punishment that he endured.
- We receive the appropriation
of Christ's forgiveness provided at the cross, by placing our faith in Him. Not by performance or religiosity (we're not good enough).Nothing weak minded in believing that. In fact, the brilliance of God's redemptive plan is what convinced me of it's truth.
No man could have concocted such a plan - it would have been all about our performance and behavior because that is what appeals to our natural fallen nature. Hence, world religions.
- GreedoLives0
how can a perfectly holy god even conceive sin? it would seem completely counter to his entire essence, and therefore should never have entered his/her mind for a second.

Mimio, if the goal of the Christian faith was as a tool to control behavior, it would teach a works/performance based system of approval: "If I don't live right, I'm gonna go to Hell... better listen to what Pastor says..."
In contrast, true Christianity teaches we are saved by grace alone via faith in Christ alone and that it cannot be earned. My pursuit of Godly living is out of grattitude because I've been saved and because I do not have to try and earn my salvation.

Greedo, sin is merely a name for the condition that resulted from original rebellion against God. We were created free moral agents because God did not desire robots. Therefore, God could have foreknowledge of our rebellion without being the author of it.

didn't know a new site is in progress.

Froww,
It's nice for you that you posess "The True Christianity" but the living Christian religion teaches the "Turn or Burn" viewpoint quite predominantly. In fact I'm fairly certain I could walk into your own church this very Sunday and hear a little talk about the inevitability of hell for unrepentant sinners.

Which is exactly what that website was doing!
There is just too much contradiction.

froww - good work buddy
the problem with Christianity is that it has become so distorted and skewed by people who claim to be christian that most people couldn't even identify the central characteristics of true christianity.
thanks to rougly 1700 years of people joining patriotism with christianity (since Constantine declared it in the 300s) the church has become corrupt just like any other earthly kingdom. in some cases much worse.
when i try to share the good news about what christ has done for me, most of my time is spent trying to tear down what other 'christians' have built up.
the central characteristic of a christian is love. if you work with someone or know someone who claims to be a chrisitan but they do not blow you over with their kindness and care for other people, please recognize that they are not a true christian.

That I can respect.
However, it doesn't take a Christan to be kind and full of love.
- jakeyj0
very true aprilrains.
people from other religions can be very kind. even people who are atheistic can be much more loving in some ways than some christians.
pointing that out, i do believe that this started somewhere, that we have an internal, innate sense of right and wrong. that it couldn't possibly have arose out of evolution. why would an atheist have a sense of right and wrong? (this is how i arrived at some of my conclusions, by really searching out answers and not just relying on what some preacher spits from the pulpit. especially televangelists. they harm christianity way more than they help it.)
if we have morality, then it must have come from some god. in researching religious beliefs and texts, only Jesus Christ makes claims of exclusivity. for me, i must either choose to accept his claims or reject them. you cannot ignore what this man says.
i have chosen to accept what he says because i believe first that the biblical text is accurate and second, that because the text is accurate, Jesus' life proved that he was who he said he was through his miracles and through his perfect sinless life. if he had made his exclusive claims and not backed it up, it would be worth nothing.
peace

christianity as a religion is extremely flawed and destructive
christianity is meant to be a relationship. and when treated this way, has the power to change lives.
- DutchBoy0
for instance, i had the pleasure to meet bio (eric baxter) and he's the most atheist of the atheist that i know, but perhaps one of the kindest and warm-hearted people i have met in my life.
- jakeyj0
dutchboy - good example. doesn't that make you wonder where his morality comes from??
- Mimio0
Humans wouldn't bea very successful species if we didn't have all the necessary faculties to function socially. Ants even operate socially in order to benefit their communities, I guess they haven't reached the plateau where they find it necessary to invent a supreme being yet.
- DutchBoy0
interesting perspective, mimio!
- Mimio0
Yeah, It's nice when you can cite reality and not have to rely on a invisible supernatural drama.
