Do I need a new board?

I used to work in a couple shops here in Boston at one point in time.

If you are getting low on cash, I would invest in a good pair of boots first. There's nothing worse than cold feet and small or large boots. Check out boots that are NOT foam injected linning. Make sure they fit just a little tight at first, but not uncomfortable, because they will break-in a bit. Also, depending on your shoe size, if its an 11 or more, look into wider boards. Most companies sell boards specifically for longer feet.

Never ride baseless bindings again. I'm not sure if they even make them anyore. It changes the flex pattern on the board + its harder on the knee's.
I would suggest 160+ for board sizes. More stability, more speed and won't sink in powder. I'm 5'7" and I ride a 158. I like to ride fast so the little extra length goes a long way. It doesn't affect spinning much either.

I could go on for hours so I would suggest talking to a local shop and really dissect whats out there before shelling out the dough. Have fun in Utah.

word IRN....the next worse thing to baseless is step-ins...oh my

on that note...a few boys out west here are working on a bindingless board...some big names involved in developing it...supposed to be the closet thing to surfing without surfing...design for deep pow open areas.

I ride standard bindings. Step-in's are nice but they wear out after a while. That and the boots are way too stiff.

If you can, post some links on that bindingless boards business. That sound pretty sick.

meh...step-ins are for rental mentals and weekend warriors.

no links that i know of about that bindingless board...I read it first in the latest edition of Snowboard Canada (not sure if you can get that) I can scan the lil piece and post here later on...its pretty hush right now as they're still working on it...i've talked to a few people who know the ones working on it and they don't know much either.
