I used to work in a couple shops here in Boston at one point in time.

If you are getting low on cash, I would invest in a good pair of boots first. There's nothing worse than cold feet and small or large boots. Check out boots that are NOT foam injected linning. Make sure they fit just a little tight at first, but not uncomfortable, because they will break-in a bit. Also, depending on your shoe size, if its an 11 or more, look into wider boards. Most companies sell boards specifically for longer feet.

Never ride baseless bindings again. I'm not sure if they even make them anyore. It changes the flex pattern on the board + its harder on the knee's.
I would suggest 160+ for board sizes. More stability, more speed and won't sink in powder. I'm 5'7" and I ride a 158. I like to ride fast so the little extra length goes a long way. It doesn't affect spinning much either.

I could go on for hours so I would suggest talking to a local shop and really dissect whats out there before shelling out the dough. Have fun in Utah.
