- Gorbie0
stewart,
I just got home a week ago from a week long trip to Berlin. It was great!
I don't know where you are staying, but I found a great place in Mitte, next to orenienburger strasse (very cool shops & bars).
A couple architects who just renovated an old east berlin building. Their home:

Where I stayed below them:
http://miniloft.com/Check the thread called "ich bien ein berliner" for some suggestions that turned out to be good ones. I have about a billion pictures I'm sorting through. I'm trying to post something by Monday.
Let me know what else you wanna know, while it's fresh in my head. Berlin is worth the trip!

http://www.lonelyplanet.com/maps…http://www.lonelyplanet.com/dest…http://www.wallpaper.com has done some nice stuff on Berlin. I've been twice, it's truly one of the most unique and best urban environments in the world. Contemporary art is through the ROOF! Personally, I've spent, more time in Munchen, Stuttgart and Frankfurt.

if you're driving, keep out of the roads there are "stau" on, you can be stuck in their damn traffic for 3 hours. (speaking from experience)
I also ran out of gas on Autobahn, which is frikkin illegal, and I got a ticket for it!!
"sprechen sie deutch, her jox?"
"nein!... i mean NO, GOD no!!"

JOX! DA IST 175 KILOMETER STAU IN RICHTUNG SCHWEDEN!
those are the angry germans coming atcha for giving their country a bad 'stau, stau, stau" name!
YOu should come to Holland, now we have STAUs! (Files in Dutch)
no, not files.. as on the puter..
pronounce it as
Phil'eh's
hehe
- tomkat0
schweden hat nicht genug autos für 175 km stau.

and jox, i'm going to Berlin by train, and i take my bike with me.
so, don't worry.

Ich spreche gerade ein wenig Deutsches. Ich bin in und aus Deutschland gewesen. - I'm not even sure that's correct.
- JazX0
Ich habe einen Freund, der in Aalen wohnt, gerades äußeres Stuttgart. Sehr netter Platz!
- JazX0
tomkat, it might be from the Afrikaans (Pig Latin Dutch) and the old-style German I learned while living in Namibia (formerly Südwestafrika). Places like Windhoek, Luderitz and Swakopmund mostly. Some crazy battlefields and shit there when they fought a group of Africans called the Hereros. Mixed people from it too. Crazy place, go visit, you'll love it.

ok here some tips:
-juddisches museum by Libeskind
-bundestag -> you can go on top for free
-karl marx allee: nice DDR architecture
-galleries in mitte, prenzlauerberg & kreuzberg
-when the weather is nice, go to potsdam (30 minutes by train)
-potsdammer platz + neue national galerie by Mies van der Rohe
-don´t go to the vitra design museum, it´s mostly not worth it
-party: wmf, maria, ...
-bars: too many
-neighbourhoods to check: mitte, prenzlauer + kreuzberg
-...p, the fake berliner
- Fher0
Just moved a year ago to Berlin, and man i´m so glad i did...
You should go to:
-Potsdamer Platz & Judisches Museum -> Both built by Liebeskind = the hired arquitect for rebiulding the ground zero in NYC.
-Hackisches Mark & Oranienburgerstr. -> fashion bars and galleries
-and the other stuff listed above..By the way there is an exhibition from Thierry Richardson at KW Institute for Contemporary Art, the guy who does the artwork for Sisely, the guy is mad...
