"If it weren’t for September 11, would we be marching to war in Iraq today?"
Yes. I think this war has been coming for along time. Way before 9/11 infact. Back in 1993 Samuel P. Huntington wrote an essay 'The Clash of Civilizations'

It's a good read.
"It is my hypothesis that the fundamental source of conflict in this new world will not be primarily ideological or primarily economic. The great divisions among humankind and the dominating source of conflict will be cultural."

tons of respect right back at ya mitsu.
i enjoy a good debate as well, and have always tried to keep above the name calling...
once you start down that road you burn every bridge here that you may have made giving advice, or joking around..one thing i've always loved about NT was that we could get to know and associate with other designers all over the world..,
it's only natural that we'll have different opinions..
how we express those opinions dictates how others will treat us..
and i like to think that i get treated pretty well here..and treat others the same...oh..and mitsu..maybe this could be the bit that changes your opinion a bit..
IRAQ
CBS has reported that barely five hours after the attacks on Washington and New York, Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld is quoted shorthand by aides saying, in reference to Saddam Hussein, “Judge whether good enough to hit S.H. at same time. Not only UBL [Osama bin Laden]. Go massive. Sweep it all up. Things related and not.” (“Plan for Iraq Attack Began on 9/11”, CBS Washington, 4 September 2002) If it weren’t for September 11, would we be marching to war in Iraq today?
They may have found another excuse; they have wanted to do this for some time. 9/11 gave them the excuse to do many things: Afghanistan, Iraq, the crackdown on civil liberties at home, the crackdown on the Freedom of Information Act – all kinds of things, at home and abroad. They would have found some other pretext if it wasn’t for 9/11 – and that isn’t even a pretext in the case of Iraq. With Afghanistan, on the surface at least, it could be used as a pretext because there was some connection there, supposedly, but with Iraq there is no connection whatsoever with 9/11.

one last thing i would like to note:
this topic did go ok, but i would prefer to only stay in discussions that refrain from name calling. that includes things like 'brainwashed'. i would really like to see your side, regardless of what the topic is... i love debate, but i it's really hard to stay with it, when people are just throwing out names like that. I prefer being shown a news source or something to refute my arguments...
you know, something to get me to say "oh, i've never looked at it that way... hmmm maybe you are right." it's just hard doing that when someones rebuttle is a one word insult. kapeesh?
respect to all. even those who's perspectives i'm still trying to see.
- vespa0
Not really. He could take "Afghanistan" out of his details and post a link to his website to blow us away with his work.
- lnu0
Well now you're sorta doing it to him...
- vespa0
Wonder if he is even a designer? No website hmm.
- Mal0
mrniceguy is not.
- exador0
and changing your screen name isn't gonna help to much ...
people tend to write the same way, with the same idiosyncracies and the same sayings over and over..
it will not be too hard to recognize you.plus the fact that suddenly 'mrniceguy' stops posting..and a new name starts ....
this is really a 'locals only' kinda place...and we're ALLLLL locals..we all know each other by screen names...and all spot the 'new names' instantly...
yeah...you'll be sooo hidden....
if you're so courageous, and have such conviction..
keep the name..maybe you could even redeem yourself someday, by not being such a rude person...
try nice for a change.
- Bluejam0
...and he hasn't even got a website listed!
- exador0
and there it is..
last time i checked, i didn't think it was a bad thing to be a peace loving country.
my bad..
apparently we aren't as bloodthirsty as 'mrniceguy' would like.
sorry about that.
in all seriousness, this was an interesting discussion, right up untill the insults came out...then it started turning ugly....
in one post 'niceguy' you revealed yourself as a nationalistic homophobe
"sissy homofied cowards like yourself that constantly badmouth your "so-called" country. move back to canada."
wow.
what a staggering intellect.
what a master-stroke of debating.
you can rest now. assured of your wit and prowress at the art of insults.and when you're done, perhaps you'd like to join the adults for a more mature conversation.
really..
'most people would have the good sense to be ashamed at having written that...and think about this ....
words like that...once they're spoken...
are remembered..
whatever folks thought of you before this..
is changed now..when ever i, or anyone else sees your name printed here on this site..its' unlikely you'll get a warm welcome.
it's a nice community here...with room for all...room for everyone...
but we can sure do without name calling homophobes.

"evil regime...hahaha, ok, its not like we dont VOTE on our government."
It's hard to determine the results of an election when the brother of one of the candidates is the govornor of the state that just happened to have voting errors.
1984 is coming. I hope you enjoy it.
- lnu0
Hey you NRA americans need to stop picking on the canadians :)
I got 2 things to say for now.
1. 200.000 civilians killed in op. desert storm.
2. USA wanted Iraq to disarm 12 years ago? That's about the time they sold them anthrax and stuff.

Baa.

i dont think you can use that analogy b/c look at the south during the civil war. and arent we so lucky that the north won.
we'd all probably be rednecks over in the good ole us of a.

"hey, im proud of this country. what im not proud of are sissy homofied cowards like yourself that constantly badmouth your "so-called" country."
imagine if your founding fathers felt the same way.
you would still be a british colony.

evil regime...hahaha, ok, its not like we dont VOTE on our government.

"I'm a texan. I've been under bush's evil regime for a long time now. I'm fed up with it. "
It's easy for us on the outside looking in to take an anti-war stance, but for someone on the inside to be able to stand up and express what he believes in a hostile pro-war environment especialy in the belly of the beast that is texas, all i can say is respect.
