I started using iBoz last year for hourly tracking. I couldn't justify spending $20-100 a month for something online when iBiz and several others werea 1 time fee. The thing I like about iBiz is it has a monitor I can run all day. Then at the end of the day I just pop it open and drag the hours from the app to the project. So if I was working in Photoshop for 4.5 hours I drag it right over to the mocks section of XYZ client.
As for project management.. I haven't found anything yet I want to invest in. I'm in the same boat as you. Basecamp is great for conversation and file archiving but nothing more. I have a client that likes to use it for bug tracking... TERRIBLE SOLUTION. Don't use Basecamp for anything beyond conversation archiving.
