Canon 550ex Flash Question Nov 5, 11, 3:49 p.m.

I have a 550ex flash that I use with a Canon 10D, but the problem with the flash is that on two separate occasions, the AA batteries inside the flash exploded and left a crust on the connectors.
Is this flash salvageable? If so, what's the best way to clean the battery connectors?

I filtered this topic and got a lot of good links, but my situation is that of an express day (this Sat) to visit the city, in proximity to where I'm staying.

I get in around 3pm and I'm going to be staying up near Lake Forest which seems to be about 30 miles north of the city.
Now my q's:
Is that a decent area? Or is it suburbs?
Is there a train that runs that way or should I cab it? The cubs are playing early that day so no ball game.

XML Flash video player q Aug 11, 10, 8:37 a.m.

I have a flash video project that uses an XML file to call in certain flv files to play in a video carousel type thing.
It's being built/updated by a vendor and when I send them new videos to upload, I am not seeing the most current videos, the old ones are still loading.
I've cleared cache and history in browsers and still no luck.
Does anyone have a clue how to do some kind of a force refresh so all new content will always show?
Or any other solutions to ensure old cached videos won't play??? thnx
