I'm no html expert, but I can claw my way around....
Trying to make a simple form for a site. Textarea to explain a problem, then name, phone, email, and submit.
I have a "mailto" link on the submit button that just shoots an email to the owner of the site because that's all I really know how to do.Info on most sites says this is a bad way to go about sending the info, but I'm not sure how else to do this. Any ideas?

i've set these up for folks in the past, they end up getting 1000 spams in a day. just add a captcha or something.

Yeh, you need a little back end script to point the form to, it will then send the data from the fields by either the GET or POST methods, and the script can then collate it and email you.
Depending on what languages your host supports (they all support all of them now, I think), you might try a 'php form mailer'. There are a million different ones available for free. Good little intro to back-end scripting - got me interested years ago..- yeh google setting up a captcha, good point.mikotondria3

Thanks...one issue that may be important..The site is in Japanese, and the users will all be Japanese as well. Not sure captcha would work with kanji. :/
- Japanese users can still type roman characters and numbers. Just use the random ones, rather than ReCaptcha.Nathan_Adams

Still struggling with this form and wondering if anyone has any ideas...
I'm receiving an error when a user tries to fill out the form using Hiragana (Japanese chars). When typing in English, the form goes through without error.
I dug around a little bit and found this line of code where you can set a language pref, I think? inputmode "hira" for Hiragane characters...Not really working...
<textarea name="comments" autocomplete="section-jp comments" inputmode="hira" cols="80" rows="6"></textarea>Anyone have any ideas? Thanks.

Just to update, my wife and I fixed the problem.
We searched in Hiragana characters, for a .php form and found one from a Japanese fellow. Made a couple of customizations and it's working now.
I know you were all dying for an update so....
