Anyone have any insight into software for monitoring social media. I know of socialmention.com and their API which looks like a good starting point but not a refined tool and I've looked at Radian6 but don't think it's worth the money. Thoughts?

Can anyone suggest a good event registration / management application, ideally open source, but really I just want to use my own payment gateway and not paypal or other high % service. So far I've been using EventBrite.ca which is great but expensive and found these other similar services:
