Photoshop Varied Contrast

What is the best way to improve an image where half the picture has overly light tones and the other half is too dark? Some are defined edges and some blend into the other side.

Would I have to make selections and do the different tones individually? Then what about the areas where it fades into the other extreme?

Removing Backgrounds in PS

What do you think is the quickest, most efficient way to remove backgrounds in PhotoShop? In this case they are product images with a near white background. I'm removing everything including the shadows.

Isn't there a way to copy and paste something in IL but have it paste a specific distance from the original like 2 inches below for instance?

Firefox still sucks?

I had hope for the v3 beta but it still seems to be as much of a CPU hog as ever. Everytime I use it ends in the End Now button. Anyone else finding 3 to be slow.

QBN UI Improvement

Since the text size on this site is too small for me I bump it up one level. This causes the Prev Next buttons in the Public section to dissapear in FF/Opera.

Just a suggestion. It would be nice not to lose that feature at a larger text size. Also, as we all know, not losing features or breaking the layout on changing the text size is important to accessibility / usability.

Storing Prints

What is a good way to store prints? I have a lot of copies of 8x10 block prints that could be stored better. Maybe some archival art envelopes and a plastic bin or is there something more standard?

Art Ideas and Subjects

Where do you get the subjects of your art work from? Photos, still lifes, landscapes, life drawing, or completely from imagination?

I just read this book called Blank Canvas and most of it discusses using the first four. It then says at the end that making something completely imaginary is the most difficult way of creating art. For some reason when I think of making art it is almost always imaginary. I wonder if this is due to thinking about it from more of a design perspective.

Here is the book:

Category 2

make the logo bigger

I had a mockup review with a local client yesterday. The amount of cliche client requests was pretty funny. I got:
1) make the logo bigger
2) add a swoosh to the logo
3) fill in the white space with something

On top of all that they gave me hand written text to retype on their site.

Screen Printing Kits

Are these worth the money for a simple intro into silkscreen? Or is it better to buy quality items separately? I bought a Speedball kit for $80 during my end of year tax shopping spree.

Contents include a 10-inch x 14-inch screen frame, Fabric Squeegee, 3 jars of 4 oz. Fabric Ink (Black, Red, Yellow), 4 oz. Screen Filler, 4 oz. Drawing Fluid, 4oz Diazo Photo Emulsion, 4 oz. Diazo Photo Emulsion Remover and Instruction Booklet.
