With all the US financial crisis and politics and pigs with lipstick taking up the news, in a costal town called Gonaives, on the Island of Haiti has been covered in mud. The hurricanes of Ike, Fay and Hanna caused mud to run down the side of a mountain, due to de-foresting, and cut through the town on it's way out to sea. Its been over a month already and financial aid from other countries are not able to put a dent in the damage.

I feel so powerless to help these people, but maybe if enough people know about it, it could make a difference.

Wilbur Ross sees about 1,000 bank closures: report

(Reuters) - Wilbur Ross, founder of private equity firm WL Ross & Co LLC, expects as many as a thousand U.S. bank closures in the coming months, CNBC said on its website on Monday.

The billionaire investor, who made his fortune making investments on distressed industries, said the closures will create opportunities for investors, CNBC said, adding that he is looking at picking up smaller distressed institutions.

"I do think a lot of the regional ones will (close), just as they did in the last savings and loan crisis in the 1990s," the website quoted Ross saying.

Ross said there will be too many people willing to provide capital to the large financial companies, making them less of a bargain than smaller banks, according to the website.

So I go over to a friends house yesterday to watch a bit of the Olympics 08. The gymnastics are on and I'm watching like He Kexin,

So after that's all over, the USA team comes on for the vault and all these beefy, elfin, protein fed girls show up on the floor. (Not a brunette in site I might add.) Part woman, part pre-pubecent gymnasts that are both sexual looking yet freakishly wrong about it at the same time.

I felt kinda bad watching because these athletes were so young and virginal looking, but yet had lats like fullbacks, tree trunk legs and huge butts. Compared to say China's team it made the whole thing that much more surreal...
