B2B site redesign process Oct 3, 11, 9:03 a.m.

This is not a very sexy post. sorry.

I have to write a very brief proposal (2-4 pages) detailing the process and timelines for redesigning a 30+ domain 24 country / 12 language family of web sites. The majority of the sites will share templates.

How would you go about this? My initial very thin ideas are: Starting with business needs analysis, current site usage reports, business needs and competitor site studies and content audit to determine the IA and site framework.

Once we have that we'll revise our existing and generate new content as needed concurrently exploring technical options, but I do not see us straying from EpiServer - the current CMS we use.

Once that is all said and done we work with the brand manager to define the look and feel of all necessary templates.

Then bing bang boom - build the templates in the CMS, populate them for each site and then set it all to live.

Also if you want to share any pitfalls - especially SEO pitfalls - that you can think of or have encountered if you have done this that would be great - Regarding losing existing search ranking and such.

I need an agency that can provide international web copywriting services for then UK and an additional 20 countries.

Basically what I need is an agency that will fit into this scenario:

I work with a rep at the agency here in london to optimize come printed marketing collateral for use on the web.

Once it is re-written in a friendly tone and optimized for web, the agency pushes that down to their local regional offices who then further optimize content and tone for the local market. The local agency rep then liases with my company's marketing/content manager to get the content on the regional website.

So what I need is an agency that can do that and has offices in most of these places:

MacBookPro - black screen Oct 11, 10, 1:55 a.m.

So his morning I try to wake up my mbp and nothing. No wakey. No noise. Nothing. So I try to restart - nothing. No blue screen no grey screen no chime nothing - just a black screen bit the power light is on. Can not boot from the install disk and nothing else responds -
like the keyboard backlight or volume control or anything like that.

Any ideas on how to get this to boot?

Simple site creation - template based Sep 10, 10, 6:21 a.m.

I'm not really sure what to call what I'm looking for.

The company I am currently at needs to make several hundred landing pages/mini-sites for conferences. Clearly the way to go about this is a dead simple cms/template solution that a non-technical person can populate (after a suitable template is designed)

essentially the goal is for me to make one or two templates and then have a content manager just whack the necessary information in to make a few hundred sites.

Core CMS for the entire family of sites is epiServer 4 - soone to be upgraded to 6 (hopefully). The company also currently has licenses for slaesforce and exact target.

The main thing the powers that be are looking for are ease of use and speed of production.

Any ideas/suggestions as to the best program/service that will do this are most welcome.

I have a colleague who needs to make a tutorial of how to use some software. He needs to record his interaction with a program and then go in and edit the video to put in descriptions and instructions.

Does anyone know of or used a program that will allow this? Preferably no too expensive and windows based.

I used a program that did exactly this like 6 years ago, but have no idea what it was called.

I applaud them for trying to make some money, but I lean towards hate - as if there is not enough just shit tags in the waterloo tunnel... now it is a practice ground.

And having a graffiti instructor just seems odd to me.

The kids class is a good idea though. I applaud that as well.

MBP wireless strangeness Jan 11, 10, 8 a.m.

So suddenly my faithful workhorse started throwing up "server not found" errors about every 5 minutes. At first I thought this was a connectivity issue or something was wrong with my wireless card an/or antennae - like it was lose or something.

Through testing I found that if I turned airport off and then back on, it would work fine for anywhere from 4 - 30 minutes before the issue came back.

But then I notice that while it is telling me "server not found" it is still happily downloading at a pretty good rate. Which implies that it is still connected just fine. IT just doesn't want to connect to any new servers.

So this leads me to suspect it has something to do with it either losing its connection to the DNS server or something along those lines.

anyone have anything like this in the past, thoughts on how to fix it, or tools for troubleshooting airport?

running OSX 10.5.8 / 2.4Ghx / 4GB

mac firewire question Dec 1, 09, 7:20 a.m.

so my boss hands me a sony handy cam and a firewire cable and says " my pc doesn't have firewire, your mac does, we need to get the video off of here"

So I plug in and expect the handycam to show up like a camera does, but it does not... I can't seem to see it anywhere and on top of that network settings says that the firewire is not connected.

but in i movie it will pick up a live feed from the camera while plugged in...

so how do I actually access the video on the handycam? any ideas?
