Website power consumption Apr 20, 12, 3:07 a.m.
Huh. So it turns out webpage colour does actually make a bit of difference where power draw is concerned.
I thought this was fairly irrelevant in the LCD age... not true at all!

"For some time, and rightly so, there has been a general stigma about testimonials, and it's easy to let them do more harm than good. A lot of companies write fake testimonials, given by fictitious people in a random location. Configurable product ecomm Jan 17, 12, 6:50 a.m.
Not to distract from Hans_Glib's post —
Can anyone recommend an eCommerce package that handles 'confgurable products' well?
Essentially, we have 'one' highly configurable product, wherein dimensions, colours and features all affect the price.
I've dug through loads of solutions, none of which seem to offer this functionality either out of the box or with a handy plugin module.
I'd really like to keep the bodge-coding to a minimum, otherwise I'd just do it myself in my typically hokey fashion.
Thanks!

Limited scope = Good design Nov 14, 11, 4:11 a.m.
An interesting article on Wired that sums up much of what I've come to believe about working in 'design'..
http://www.wired.com/wiredscienc…
ie. it's all about working within a problem.
I'm often bemused when designers find that their ideal solution to a client's problem is to Start From Scratch - especially where there a brand detail, like a logo, font or schema that they don't like or want to work with.
Not only is this doing their client and their industry a form of disservice, it distracts them from properly investigating their own field.
.
Alternate reasoning - I'm putting this here to refer subsequent designers to my clients to when they turnaround and ask 'who made this crap?'. Think of me as a farmer of sorts..
UK © infringement. Nov 7, 11, 7:51 a.m.
What to do?
A well known UK online clothes retailer ( http://www.asos.com/ ) is stocking a printed item whose design is entirely based upon a piece of copyrighted photography.
What're the first steps to take in pursuing this?
A homemade cease and desist, backed with evidence, should be ample to get them to stop selling the item, without a lawyer - but further to that, are there resonably affordable means to pursue rights without squandering too much in (spit) lawyer's fees?

I was struck by this video, posted little more than a week ago, showing what I felt was a beautiful, strong, peaceful human protest—the hairs on my neck stood a little, imagining what it must be like to be part of that movement.
Anyway, less than a week later and the inspiration for the protest chants, Ibrahim Kashoush, has apparently been found dead, his his throat having been slit, his body dumped in a river.
