Photography survey.

Hello QBNers,

I'm in the final year of my degree and a large portion of it is a dissertation project.

I am designing and developing a web app for people interested in photography to find locations to shoot, whether it be amateurs or professionals.

If you could take a couple of mins to fill out this survey that would be great and help me with my degree!

Of course comments are also welcome below...

Many Thanks
Sam

Wacom for sale

I have a Wacom Bamboo Pen Touch (Medium size) that i've barely used (less than 1 year old) that I'd like to sell.
It's in near perfect condition and I have the box.

Any takers?

Preferably in the UK to keep shipping reasonable.

1st iPhone app in store

My first iPhone app was accepted to the AppStore last night!

It's just a very basic (read 'free') tool to generate colours at random when you shake your device.

information on the colour can then be reviewed and the colour saved for later.

Take a peek if you want.

FYI: this was built entirely in JavaScript and compiled using Titanium by Appcelerator. http://www.appcelerator.com/

Thanks QBNers

Interface App - iPhone

(i did use the filter first, but to no avail, so forgive me if this has been here before)

Interface.

iPhone app which allows you to build mock-ups of other apps. Simply brilliant.

its not free but does seem like a pretty powerful little tool for the money.

hacked?

just wondering if anyone else has had any problems in the last few weeks with getting hacked by some turkish guys?
they seem to be targeting CMS's, i've had problems with a Wordpress system and a CMS Made Simple system.

they leave behind this- "opss hacked by p@3t_b@y for turks" in place of your content usually.
As well as generally doing irritating things like change (totally wipe, in one case) the CMS layout template and login details for CMS admin.

its bloody annoying i tell you! why do people waste their time?! be productive/proactive instead.

Hosting Recommendations

...I have used the filter and had a look through what people have said on the matter already.

I'm looking for a decent UK based host for a linux reseller or VPS setup.

In my search i've come across these people:
https://www.unlimitedwebhosting.…
just wondering if anyone knows of, uses or would warn me off using them.

Cheers

looking for 3D app

So im looking to experiment with 3D modelling and animation. its new to me so i don't want to spend much cash.
my previous experience goes as far as sketchup, so pretty basic- hence the drive to advance.

i know there's blender (www.blender.org) which is open source but have you seen the UI?! fook it would take me years to learn half of what it all does.

im looking at modo 401 (http://www.luxology.com/modo/) a student license is $150 which isn't bad for what it does and i could stretch to that.

so does anyone have any recommendations? very little love from google and suggestions from users is way more valuable than some list on someones badly researched blog article.

ta very much

Wanted: Student Placement

Dear QBNers,

I'm studying Multimedia & Internet Technology at the University of Salford and I'm looking for a placement for the 3rd year of my degree (starting this summer and lasting at least 10 months.)

I know I'm no guru but I'm learning still and really looking forward to getting stuck into real industry experience.

Does this notoriously accommodating community have any contacts for companies in the North West of England who may be looking for/want a web designer/developer placement student, with good XHTML/CSS, PHP, Javascript and MySQL skills? As well as a solid background in design using Photoshop, Flash and Illustrator.
I can also take a half decent photo (featured in the Royal Photographic Society Journal recently), which may be useful.

Thank You for any advice and taking the time to read this.

mice advice

ok so started using a mighty mouse recently and its known that its very poor. and it is.
in the past i have used microsoft mice and found them to be pretty decent.
not long ago i bought a logitech G5 gaming mouse but it behaved bizarrely on mac and it was very narrow, so i passed that onto a mate.

now im on the look out for something sensibly priced thats comfortable and won't leave me in agony after a few hours use and potentially RSI etc.
any recommendations? (not got the money or requirements for a wacom!)
thanks

What to wear?

On thursday i have a "chat" i.e. interview with a company I'm hoping to work for during a placement year as part of my degree.

What does one wear for such a meeting? I've not been to this sort of interview before, or any sort of job interview!

will a shirt and jeans do? smart or casual shoes?

I'd appreciate any advice, thanks
