Illustrator CS5 glitch Jan 12, 12, 1:57 a.m.
Hello,
I have a frequent problem with Illustrator CS5 and I wonder if anyone can help resolve it. If I have left it open in the background for a while, it wont work when I try to go back to it. It will throw the open document back into the foreground, but it will have the spinning beachball, or will be greyed out and beyond reach. I have no choice but to force quit it.
Sometimes I may have left Illy in order to go and do something photoshoppy, so I may not have saved as it was only a temporary departure into another app. So I'm frequently losing five or ten minutes of work each time.
Does anyone else experience this? and does anybody know of a fix for it?
It doesn't seem to relate to any other particular app, ie: its not a clash with a font manager or anything like that.
Our IT bloke suggests its because I may have too much stuff open at once but this isn't the case either. I can have only two things open and if Illy is left for five minutes in the background it wont come back to life.
Any thoughts? Advice? Offers of support? Cash donations? Can I sleep with your hot sexy wife and cry like a baby afterwards?
Stuff like that. Thanks.

Looking for a sign Sep 13, 11, 9:34 a.m.
A couple of years ago there was a public information sign that appeared on the internet and very possibly here on QBN. It was a sign that had been put up in India around the Taj Mahal. The point of the sign was to discourage the act of openly defecating in the street around tourist attractions such as the Taj Mahal.
I remember seeing the sign, and I remember there being a lot of discussion about it (I thought here on QBN). I have been googling my little fingers to the bone however and can't find any record of it.
Does anyone here recall the sign? From memory it had the silhouette of the palace, then picked out of that there was a pictogram of a person squatting, and below them, a miniature Taj Mahal which was actually a turd.
Anyone?
Am I going mad? Am I having odd dreams?
FinalCut Help Sep 8, 11, 6:32 a.m.
Hello,
Can somebody advise me how to go about clipping/trimming a downloaded video clip please? I'm in FinalCut Express and I seem to have tried everything now but I can't trim off the first 60 seconds or the last 50 seconds to leave the bit in the middle.
GRRRRR and such.
Thanks.

Fax machines Aug 18, 11, 11:36 a.m.
Everyone takes the piss out of them on here these days, but I'm wondering if anyone here wants to start up a fax exchange where we all buy cheap old fax machine from thrift stroes or wherever... the old thermal roll type ... and then send each other big long pieces of artwork.
The only thing I ever thought was any good by Tomato was when they got commissioned to design some wallpaper for a bar or hotel in Japan, and the finished product was actually faxed to the client to be pasted on the walls. Genius move.
Humous Aug 17, 11, 2:36 p.m.
Working on a project at the moment, repositioning humous.
Can anybody recommend some good new locations for the houmous?
Thanks
WTV Aug 12, 11, 9:13 a.m.
What's the vid.
I need some helping finding something. Its just one of those home made Youtube mashup vids, but it features an interview... tv interview, but its been edited down so that there's only the silence, sighs, and ends of intonations left. So the entire edited video is just two people... one behind a desk I think, and the other, a celeb or politician, and they just sigh and gesticulate slightly at each other for a few minutes.
Anyone know what that is?
Any Links?
Whats that image Jul 15, 11, 3:02 a.m.
Need some help finding an image. It used to be posted up on here quite a bit. Its one of those memey seeming images. It features a bunch of young, nubile, pretty looking party girls posing flirtatiously in a snapshot, with one girl who is clearly bigger, less pretty, dare I say 'unattractive', hovering sullenly to one side, or in the background of the image. She's clearly friends with these girls, but is also clearly an odd one out.
Anyone know that image? I need it for a presentation. Its a crappy looking image, just a snapshot, not some professional thing.
Thanks, if you can help.

Should I get my van resprayed? Feb 8, 11, 3:06 p.m.
I have a 1986 Bedford CF2 Panel van. Its a bit knackered. I'm restoring it slowly.
I want the bodywork to be typical ww2 grey, and everything else black. All semigloss, not matte.
Question is, should I do the Rustoleum roller special which will take up my time but only cost me £50, or should I get it done by a professional for £2000.
Underneath the ailing bodywork, the van is a rock solid dream.

(Jog My Memory)
Trying to remember the name of a product so I can google search the ad campaign. The campaign was out a few years ago on TV, Cinema, and also in print.
I think it was a drink, but it might possibly have been a beauty product. It was a really amazing realistically rendered CGI jungle/forest full of strange and dream-like plant life that would snake into shot then open up into bizarre flowers, dripping with sap, or with odd dangly bits, or like venus fly traps.
Really surreal and was discussed a lot at the time because it was really out there CGI-wise. Probably hasn't aged all that well. but I remember it being quite an amazing spectacle to see.
Anyone recollect the campaign, brand, anything???

Drugged Spiders, help? Feb 3, 11, 3:51 a.m.
Many years ago, some film footage did the rounds of a laboratory experiment wherby spiders were subjected to cannabis, heroin, LSD, caffeine, MDMA etc etc, and their attempts to build webs under the influence was recorded... I think it was timelapse photography and the wens were picked out by light against a dark background.
Does anyone have any links to this original footage from years back, or recall it, its name or anything?
I'm not asking for results from Google. I've already googled and there are a hundred different 'spiders on drugs' clips, but none of them are particularly good. The stuff that did the rounds originally we high quality, all shot in the same conditions/environment, all framed identically etc.
I repeat, I'm not asking for google searches, or comments to the effect that I should search for it on Google.
Thanksee
Crowhurst pillow Jan 26, 11, 2:25 p.m.
I heard a rumour earlier that Stephen Crowhurst may have designed a new throw-pillow.
Does anybody have any information on that?
