What are you guys rocking for home office speakers?
I'm looking for some clear near-field speakers that I can use as reference speakers when editing audio for podcasts and similar shit, as well as listening to music. Looking for options in the $250-$600 range.

I had Yamaha HS8s but found they were too big. Too big because the would throw the bass too far past the listening position at my desk. They sounded amazing when I stood at the back of my room, they are pretty much full range speakers if you have the space.
I changed to a pair of KRK Rokit 5s and added a 8 inch KRK S8.4 sub, as this allowed me to dial in the bass for the room better. Pretty happy with everything considering the space restraints.
- Those KRK are famously good for their size.monospaced
- They play loud when you just want to pump tunes, I rate them.slappy

A lot of people knock the Presonus Eris E5's, But I've had them for years and think they perform really well for the price.

Audioengine S5 is a great option in the near field desk speaker area at that price. Beautiful too.
- A5 I mean. https://audioengine.…monospaced
- I was looking at these the other day. Did you get the subwoofer to go with it?Continuity
- I didn’t. If my room was bigger and I was going louder I might. But these PUMP.monospaced
- They look like they're excellent room-fillers all on their own. The space I'd put them in is about 23 square metres.Continuity
- They’d probably be fine. Self powered and passive options available. Solid built too.monospaced
- I still have the A2 (first gen, no bluetooth, bought them out of a wired review, when speakers started to be relevant for computers).uan
- I upgraded them with a bluetooth dongle along the way)..you don't need the subwoofer for a small room imo. they got plenty of power (even the A2).uan
- I too rocked some original A2 speakers I picked up in 2012. Amazing little things.monospaced
- these arouse my interest._me_

Hoser here,
I've f**ked with PSB's for 10-15 years and love the "bang for buck"...

Anything low to low-mid is more than capable for a small office / room space; pair with a sub (if you'd like) from the same realm and you're looking at $500 - $600 for a very capable system.
I have the Alpha PS1 system which has since been discontinues BUT bumps nicely:

Another great option is Sonos. I have a pair of Fives in my living room and they sound incredible. $1,000+ before a sub though.

- Yeah they’re expensive. I got them as a gift so not complaining.monospaced
- Breakin' balls brother; I love their design, ecosystem and (from what I've heard) the sound.ideaist
- I have play 1s and 5s around the house for convenience, while cooking etc and I’m always happy with the sound. It’s only when I fire up my hifi that I realiseslappy
- What I have been missing..slappy
- Sonos has laggy output coming from certain sources. I like them for a bookshelf but that's it.cannonball1978

I was looking at the Kantos and also Ruarks. I'd love to get a pair of genelec 8010a but it's too rick for my blood.
- I was in the same price range and looked at Kantos. Ended up getting Peachtree M25s after hearing them side by side. Either will still need a sub though.koma_

my home office is my studio, so ..
had Yamaha HS80's, but like Slappy i was sitting too close and the sweat spot was too far behind.beginning of the year upgraded to Barefoot Footprint03..
sadly my mix position hasnt changed much but the A/B comparison was night and day.. HS80's were so muddy on the low..Also have a single Genelec 8040 as a mono.. a Avantone pro as a grot box Mono.. and when i feel the need to deafen myself, i also have a Yamaha DXR15 Mk2 15inch PA speaker..
but mostly, its just the Barefoots i used daily
- The Barefoots look the business! I might give these a look next time I move studios. Cool retro look with great sound is what I'm into for hifi.slappy
- They are studio monitors.. but yep, they sound amazingautoflavour
