I am retiring my desktop and the pile of SSDs that are inside. Now that external is fast enough, I'd like to use that only (also so I don't have to worry about upgrading drives and a computer at the same time).

Is anyone using some kind of redundant external drives for their main storage? I have plenty of NAS backup, but still a little concerned about relying on just a few external drives. I'll need a few drives for all of my photography (especially now that I have an R5 and am retiring my M43 cameras).

Or is that overkill (I have the local NAS backups and online backups)?

I'm still using dropbox, which probably isn't the best or cheapest solution however I only use it for family photos and packaged final artwork so it doesn't get too large. I don't do much video these days.

You could use mechanical drives for an archive/deep storage raid, its cheaper and read somewhere that the longevity is better than SSD. One day Ill create a couple of these setups, leave one at my bros house and find a way to sync them.
