what's new with portfolio CMS? anything unique out there or have we all just settled on a masonry grid?
is it still the usual suspects like c argo, wordpress and squarespace? ghost? craftcms? anyone using anything exciting or did we plateau 10 years ago?

Salient has some really nice prebuilt websites that can be incorporated into Wordpress.

- It's from Tobias Van Schneider... I'm not sure if he was ever a QBNer. I like the flexibility of it... you can take it in a lot of different directions.bogue

Some of these are great, but one thing that really bugs me is how, when you click on a project, it's like "ok we've arrived here now".
If you want to quickly get a sense of a designer's skillset, you should easily be able to view a project and then close it to go back to where you were, without hitting the back button and starting over, or clicking "next project" and getting lost. To me, the ideal would be more of a quick view pop-up, like when you click an image on Facebook, but instead it's a window that can hold as much info as you like.
Anyone seen a template like this?

I'm in the process of changing from wp to Framer https://www.framer.com. If you know Figma already it's fairly easy to get into.

I have a fundemental worry about all these wordpress addons... feels like using something that relies on wpbakery or the like is bound to be bloated and annoying to edit... but maybe that's just my own hangup and I should give it a go
