So I am constantly seeing more and more Figma videos that essentially show nothing but loading animations and carousels.
Does anyone actually use the software for this?
In my experience, I would do the layout and them pass along to a developer. Any kind of animation would be a collaboration from that point onwards.
Essentially, is this yet another pointless skill that we are expected to learn as creatives?
I'm an OG NT'er so wondering if I am in fact THAT old or the rest of you are thinking the same thing...

If you work with design systems, &/or prototypes in which you might have to discover certain features for your product, ie: some carrousel for ecommerce, or any micro-interaction, you might find the smoke & mirrors handy. Otherwise, its just like adding lens flare.
- Appreciate the lens flare comment. This is kind of what I needed to hear. Thank you.nylon

I'll add...

Yes. I think that learning how to do that in Figma is only to use Figma mirror and pass the iphone to your client and make him scroll through smoke & mirrors.
Showing that proto. to any dev would be exactly the same than sending them an mp4.
