I have owned approximately 60 domain names during the past 10 years and have sold 15 of them, making about 25 thousand bucks.
- Over the last 25 years I’ve owned a small handful and sold 3, totaling about the same.monospaced

- People will email you directly or through your domain registrar to acquire specific domain names. The buyer must pay for any and all transactions fees.utopian
- the domains i own are myriad, and of absolutely no value at all.hans_glib
- I had one that I got for nothing and was worth nothing. But then a company wanted it and I wouldn’t budge for less than $10k. They bought it.monospaced

What’s the rule of thumb with selling domains? How do you price it? Ask for something high and wait for them to counter offer?
How do you gauge their comfort level without spooking them, and on the flip side how do you avoid under-asking?

utopian,
Several years ago I had offers for my main site - mg33.com - regularly, all from China. It got me to researching the availability of 1-4 character domains, all of which are apparently gone now. mg33 translates to something meaningful in China and I think the number 33 has some sort of significance. I never wanted to sell it though and they weren't offering all that much.
