Personal or inspirational?

I was looking for a small desktop vinyl cutter for fun, I recall Cricut was locked down when it came to uploading custom eps’s. I think the Silhouette machines were more open to custom settings.

You can upload PDFs or svg to cricut so it does custom graphics but not sure how small it cuts.
This is for personal exploration.
- I looked into one a while back and if memory serves - the cuts are OK, it's just that the unit's tiny (for my needs - I need a BIg Unit, yeah).Nairn
- ..also, I don't think they're too quick. that's probably not important for you.Nairn
- have you looked into retailers for a demo?Nairn
- Calvin pissing on an Obama logo stickers are cheap these days. I wouldn't invest in an actual cutter.ben_
- I've watched YouTube demos but they are mostly making signsHayoth

We have the Cricut Maker, it's great. Cuts a bunch of other material aside from vinyl as well.

George, do you think I could make stencils and apply them to shoes to make outlines I can color and paint?
- I think so. If you use a high tack vinyl it should stick nicely to the shoe material. You could also heat the sticker as you apply it to form to shapes.CuriousGeorge

The Silhouette machine works fine for me. I usually cut low tack vinyl stencils for use on acrylic paintings and heavy stock paper. As I'm sure you've already seen, there's a good variety of stock available. I cant imagine much difference in silhouette/cricut branded materials.

I have the silhouette Cameo 2. Works well. I do heatpress vinyl for shirts and permanent calendared for outdoor or other.
