Have been working on a ton of drawings and paintings lately now that I work part time.

Anyone ever had an art show?

How’s you get around to do it?
    How’d it go?

find a gallery or a space.. make a booking 3-6 months in advance..
    work towards it.

    deadlines are good.

depends the space but most places will take 50% of sales.. and probably also a fee for the space..
depends on the space tho, if its like a proper proper gallery you won't have a chance as they are usually booked for at least 12-18 months in advance with their own artists.. so look for a community gallery or a co-op or something

or local bars sometimes have art in the places.

The way I did it was find a space to lease with decent weekend foot traffic for a few days: Fri-Sun. Then got some artist friends to split the bill and contribute. We set up shop and I made a few bucks from zines and posters. Didn't sell any originals. Some of the other artists were able to sell a piece, but overall it was a loss.

    • yeah if you can do a group show with a couple of friends, its always better.. more people will come to the opening and less cost to eachautoflavour

I'd keep this for Spring 2021 at least, with all this corona going around.

You can do a closed show record it and put it online until then.

    • But the way to go would be to send works to galleries and get one of them to accept you as a resident artist and do a show for you

    • Galleries have PR dep. that invites collectors and relevant people to attend the shows, if you want to sell, you need those

    • You will also need to have a strong online presence too, rock instagram with your works and process, to create some buzz

    • I'm partner of a museum, where I've exhibited in the past and for which I was working at in a one week long workshop and expo, comic and illo works...OBBTKN
    • We've postponed ALL gallery and face-to-face activities until next year, not only mine. If you can, and you're not in a hurry, I'd wait for next springOBBTKN
