If you do great work they give you more work. If you ask great questions, you get promoted and become a manager and don't have to work late.
- always trying to find out how to ask better questions instead of talking my head off. I like this. thanks for the reminder.bklyndroobeki
- That being said, if I have lots of work, I do it all during the weekend and go into work and come meeting time, act like I did it all effortlessly.robotron3k
- Yes but the problem with that is you will receive more work with higherups expecting the next meeting to be the same.bklyndroobeki
- I think every once in a while is OK, but to have self respect we save our weekends for friends and family + our own personal developmentbklyndroobeki

My line manager recently said to my team that if we clock extra hours (even if finished at home), we can take time off.
I've been so much more flexible since then, able to meet crazy deadlines etc, knowing that if I work a few late nights, I can take a day off when it calms down.
So awesome!
We log hours to specific jobs, so they would know if I was taking the piss. I can't see it working otherwise
- Same here. Now I work from home whenever I want and work mostly when I want and need to. It's great!monospaced

I can count on one hand the number of times I have taken work home over the past nine-odd years I've been doing this job - fuck that noise. I have a setup at home - C4D, Vray etc. but I tend to be reactive and work really hard and fast so I can leave the office on time and avoid loose ends. Not always the most elegant solution but I know my limits and how long it takes me to do certain tasks and how flexible I can be depending on the deadline.
For my own personal wellbeing and state of mind my time away from the job is extremely important to me - and I actively organise my workflow towards keeping everything within normal office hours.
If the job requires it i'll stay late and have worked weekends for the OT money - but I refuse to take things home with me - once I walk out the office that's it until the next day - I can come in early if I feel I need the extra time.
- Reactive, as in I just deal with things as they happen and get it done.face_melter

Do your job and stop complaining.
