Company reorg meeting next week

Just got word that my company is having a reorg meeting next week. I've been through a few of these in the past and some have not been any big deal, while others have been painfully bad and people let go... we'll see. hopefully it's a positive one.

When you join a company, go full time, there's a sense of security, regular paychecks etc, you relax, enjoy life... full time people consider freelancing to be risky, unstable...
but as is so often the case, full-time can be pretty unstable. I've seen companies unable to pay staff their salary for a few months, due to bad financial management and late paying clients. I've seen people quit big corps, to join cool independent studios, only to see the owners sell their studio to the big corp that the staff had just quit. Companies fold, merger, move offices out of town etc etc Just when you get comfortable in life, the rug is pulled from under you.
Nothing is stable. Being freelance at least puts you in the hustle / adapt / survive mindset. But still sucks.

These are never a good thing. some peaople always get the sack, or in my experience the hole department was closed down. If I was you, I would get some options on the table for yourself, as a backup?

/\ Co-Sign. Been through one a while back which I described on in the blog thread which resulted in about 70% of the studio gone - just went through another which gutted another business group. Not sure how I've survived the culls, but taking matters into my own hands and bouncing.
Nothing is stable in the economy we are in. Invest in something that can help build a passive income for you down the road.

If you have a sense that things weren't going well then the meeting will go in that direction, but do you think the business side has been suffering?
It's probably going to be ok, why would they create a suspense to deliver bad news?

The last reorg that I was a part of, they basically tricked us all into writing the documents that helped them sell the company, and then fucked me out of tens of thousands of dollars of pass due profit share that settled for hundreds on the thousand after the sale completed. The partners cut my last two monthly payments out of their own pocket, which lead me to camp outside their house when my checks from the company were bouncing. It was UGLY.
That reorg came right after they merged with an event company and took on their staff and added a new partner. But apparently the plan was always to sell, something I wish they would have told me as I was leading their ONLY profitable department.
Thankfully the company moved to Austin Texas after the sale, which is great bc I may have gone on a murderous rampage otherwise.
