"China's response to Nancy Pelosi's visit to Taiwan reveals deep insecurity about US's shifting stance towards the island, analysts tell @AFP, as well as efforts to distract from economic woes at home"

Something to consider behind the rhetoric...the list of China's largest trading partners. Almost all of the top 10 are Western aligned countries, with the USA and EU representing huge markets for China.
Only changes when you get to #8 Vietnam, and Vietnam is not even an ally of China (last war China briefly fought was against Vietnam in the 70s and they lost).
Does China want to blow up their key trading relationships and launch a war with an undetermined outcome, possibly starting WW3? This definitely isn't something you decide to do on a whim as a result of Nancy Pelosi visiting Taiwan, it would represent a hugely destabilizing event for China and the world.
Of course you can say it wasn't at all in Putin's interest to invade Ukraine, but not everyone is as fucked in the head as Putin.

"'Ghost towns': Evergrande crisis shines a light on China's millions of empty homes"
"Mark Williams, chief Asia economist at Capital Economics, estimates that China still has about 30 million unsold properties, which could house 80 million people. That's nearly the entire population of Germany.
On top of that, about 100 million properties have likely been bought but not occupied, which could accommodate roughly 260 million people, according to Capital Economics estimates. Such projects have attracted scrutiny for years, and even been dubbed China's "ghost towns."
Here's a look at some of those projects, and how the problem first originated."

The problem China would face trying to invade Taiwan right now.. oil/gas/fossil fuel to power the invasion... Not only is it pricey (unless from russia, but following problem remains)
They get it shipped... right through were all the war action would be.
- *whereshapesalad
- Of course, same problem would be faced by Taiwan/Japan... so securing fuel would pretty much determine the war.shapesalad
- So worry if Russia builds direct pipes into China.shapesalad

Great fucking video.
You may not think that China wants war with your country, but China absolutely is at war with your country. It may not be a kinetic war, but China is conducting cyber, economic, cultural, legal and full spectrum war against you and your country.
The Chinese government is an aggressor.

This is such a bizarre story...Chen Weiming, a Chinese artist, created this sculpture in the California desert. The CCP spent millions of dollars and recruited spies in the USA to try to destroy it.
