2001 space Odyssey tutorial?

Anybody know of a good tutorial for after effects to achieve the 2001 stargate scene?
This is a pretty nice one, but it's for an app called: HitFilm which I don't have -

Not sure about plugins - but it doesn't look so difficult to rebuild....
spec out lines in photoshop/illustrator (or look into sound visualtaztions in AE)
in AE
import - rotate on side and distort out - flip it over.
Apply chromatic filters on top.Similar deal with all the space videos.
Any help to you?

Make a really tall comp with your lines animating in a vertical direction.
Apply polar coordinates to that comp
