If you are using a full screen slider - what size would you make the images.
What is the largest you would go?
Thanks

1280 high ish

I'd go wider, but use picturefill to swap depending on screen width.

Is this a design preference question, or a performance question though?

1920px looks good even on 27" iMac. I usually go with 2000px.
Be sure to compress your JPGs at 70% quality for reasonable compression/quality ratio.

On the site I've been working on recently, I've gone for a crazy 3600px wide - but then generate smaller images at 2400px, 1800px, 1200px and 600px wide. Images all lazy load in with the best size appearing based on the actual size it's being displayed at (rather than just going by viewport width).
- Yup, my client just requested 2400px wide image this evening.utopian

Nathan so for example you would have:
cat_2400.jpg
cat_1800.jpg
cat_1200.jpg
cat_600.jpg?
Also, what center canvas do you work to? Even though the image is 2400 pixels wide - what size stage would you use?
960 x 500 for example?
Really appreciate your help here guys
