I get to the office between 8-8:15 and work until about 5:30. Sometimes I leave early if the workload is okay to do that, sometimes I stay till 7 if there are projects due.
I am finding myself working harder if I force myself to leave on time and just get my shit done while I am here. Better work/life balance if I do that and I am actually more productive.

9:30-5:30 fulltime spot - then around 10-20 hours week freelance stuff.
Last week, I totally destroyed myself with an extra "personal art" project. It was the last section of a book collaboration - we landed a publisher and I had to get design files over to make a print/production deadline for their winter/spring catalog.
Even through physical bodily destruction (fatigue), I feel it was worth more than most client work I do.
I'm a regular listener to Ash Thorp's Collective Podcast.

He interviews many artists, designers and directors I have great respect for - and one of the main themes throughout the majority of the conversations is that–you need to focus on personal projects. And that when they simply did the usual grind, it lead to bad health and overall bad mental state, not to mention lost personal fulfillment.I've slowly started sifting through the work I do to rid myself of time wasters and overall bad clients - started focusing on gaining better clients and at the same time, getting a better hold on scheduling my own personal projects.

^ I need to focus more on personal work, the day-to-day work is killing my motivation. This weekend was a total waste. I feel burnt out and couldn't find inspiration to do anything regardless of the project.
