Hello yall,
I've got a problem/bug and none of the fixes I found on internet seem to address it,I have objects in my viewport, they are there, they exist,
but are only visible when I render the scene,it happened suddenly and I can't find the damm solution,
copy pasting the objects in new window doesn't solve it, same with checking the projects settings, example below
eg: invisible object,
once rendered become visible

Check the two small dots next to the objects: red and green.
Top red means off in viewport, visible in render
Bottom red means on in viewport, invisible in renderGreen means akways visible everywhere.
Click them to cycle through the combinations until you get the combinatin you want

- Hmm. That is weird. I have come across my fair share of C4D eccentricities but this is a new one.face_melter
- yeah, it's new for me too and pissing the shit out of me, I'll try to save as .obj and import back...GeorgesII
- GeorgesII0
- Ah, cool. The program's great but it does have a tendency to throw a shit-fit for no real reason.face_melter
- Yep, hair tearing fits,
wasted 2 hours going through forums ehehehGeorgesII - I have had these fits and hours spent on forums for very similar reasons. Glad you sorted it out.CyBrainX
- Don't you love when you're looking for an answer on those forums and all you get are 82 people responding that they had the same problem but offer no help?CyBrainX
- My favourites are 15+ minute how-to videos of an action that takes 30 seconds to complete. Every. Single. Mouse. Click. is explained.face_melter
- Sometimes I'm just happy if they're in English.CyBrainX

that might be something with the normals or something... can you paste it on a new project and send to us?
btw, to fix just that object you could've just exported it, instead of the entire scene!
- Don't think it would be the normals, as the 'missing' objects were unmodified - but yeah, upload the scene somewhere, if possible, it's been bugging me.face_melter
- nope not the normals,
I just had no idea whatsup :(GeorgesII

did you try to subdivide the invisible object?
This happens sometimes on extruded text caps for some reason. Might be same issue.

LOL I made an account just to answer this, so I hope I can help.
From your object list it seems that all the objects that are invisible are primitive 'generators' objects. The ones you can actually see in the view port are polygon objects.
Try in the view port were it has drop downs 'View Cameras Display Options Filter Panel' clicking Filter and making sure 'Generators' is checked ON.
There are many different ways to hide geometry in C4D but as your offending objects are all generator objects and not attached to any layers, this is my best guess.
- The export to OBJ function converts all generator / primitive objects to polygon ones as they aren't supported in obj. That's why on re-import you can see them.graphiconions
- just tried,
sadly it was already checked,
btw, escape while you can, this place will suck your life away :)GeorgesII - yea, but he has a good point, on that filter pannel you might have unchecked something that hide poly objectsfeel
- oh and welcome! ppl here are insanely agressive but we love each other, and WTF means What The Fontfeel
- What The Font are you talking about feel?moldero
- yes much "FUCK YOU" love here, if you can deal with our Tourette's syndrome.moldero

Were there any booleans involved? I don't see any in your object list but booleans are about the biggest bitch in C4D.
- CyBrainX0
- That would affect the entire scene - the other objects are still visible. I've tried all kinds of fuckery and can't replicate this at all :/face_melter
- face_melter1
- where do I find this F_m?GeorgesII
- Look under Tools > Modes... and there are a set of buttons called Viewport Solo. Select the objects that are missing, then 'Viewport Solo Off' *fingers crossed*face_melter
- F_m you saved the day for me. Thanks!Roshambo
- GeorgesII0
ok, screw this,
I made a wetransfer with the file,
can anyone tells me if it opens correctly on their machine, if not you will see those object are there, but still not visible..
- GeorgesII0
face_melter, you're an angle,
so what was I doing wrong?
- No problem. The only thing I did was reset the Viewport Solo settings. Is the file entirely yours or did it come from another version of C4D?face_melter
- nah it's mine, was working on it and I may have either pressed the wrong key combo or someone up there hates me...GeorgesII
- Yeah, just one of those things in the weird and wonderful world of Cinema 4D.face_melter
- By default there's no shortcut for viewport object solo but it's next to a lot of buttons in the vertical strip of tools/settings on the left.CyBrainX
- This seems like a great option if the scene is complex and things are slow.CyBrainX
- Aye, I have found it indispensable when it comes to modelling - allows you to get behind and into parts of the model that are normally visually blocked off.face_melter
- GeorgesII2
- Fucking love it!
Will there be any animation?
and any teeny tiny cars moving along that bridge?CyBrainX - thanks Cy, it's a template design, for a multitouch table app we're devellloping, that would be sick to have elements moving around, I'll shoot it to the CD.GeorgesII
- nice work buddymoldero
- Yeah, nice - not what I was expecting at all.face_melter
- damn, didn't find this solo option on my c4d, this scares me hehefeel
- noice!utopian
- Looking nicemrpt
- Fucking love it!
- graphiconions0
Oh wow, I never even knew that viewport solo thingy even existed and I consider myself a seasoned C4d user. :D
Glad you got it sorted GeorgesII, and thx all for the welcome msg's and early abuse.

also in case of trouble say "fuck u candy" x3 really fast in front of a mirrorGeorgesII - If I remember correctly they only just added it to R16.face_melter
