Computer Speakers?

I've had some good Creative speakers go bad recently. They sounded great and have a subwoofer; I think something has gone wrong in the headphone jack that's on the volume control. It's almost like it thinks headphones are plugged in all the time and doesn't output sound unless the headphones are plugged in.
Looking for some recommendations on great sounding, stylish speakers. I also had a set of Alesis recording monitors, but I never really listen to music over those, and stopped liking them for recording as well.
Any suggestions? Something with a subwoofer would be preferred but if the speakers sound good enough on their own, I don't have to have that. Wound prefer something with a 1/4 inch inputs for audio interface speaker cables.

Just get another pair of Creatives? I'm on my third set here over the past decade and a half, or something (one got physically smashed, another sitting out under my partner's desk).

That might be the way to go. These have been good; my wife got them as a gift probably 8 years ago or more. I tried to fix the headphone jack, but no idea how to do it.

- Hate to say the design is a turnoff, but yeah. Yuck.mg33
- they look like monitorsmoldero
- These are like monitors but I found bass control to be almost nonexistent without serious eq work. Simply too boomy overall but fucking loud!monospaced
- this was my first set. good stuffscarabin
- I had a similar set conk out after two years or so.nikdaum

Go with the AudioEngine2
You won't be disappointed.
- They are basically like your Alesis monitors but much smaller and powered. Incredible sound across the range.monospaced
- Creative makes a lot of noise but quality is ultimately poor. These are all about quality sound. Plus made in USA.monospaced
- That's what I'm considering actually. :) They look nice and got great reviews.mg33
- I got my girlfriend a set based on reviews and years later they are now connected to my computer. We use them during parties actually. They move a lot of airmonospaced

- Rokits all the way - I have Rokit 5's - so so good... don't take up much space but so lively and powerful for size. Love them.fadein11
- look goodmoldero
- They fuckn look like clueless aliensgeorgesIII
- I've had those bose for 5+ years. The only negative is the overpowering bass.dorf

- These are the AudioEngine A2+ monitors I referenced above. People are convinced the sound is coming from much larger speakers until they see them.monospaced
- Super durable too!monospaced
- Did you downvote everyone else and upvote yourself? Please tell me no.detritus
- look nice - would like to hear how they soundfadein11
- I didn't vote on anything in this thread actually.monospaced
- Did you upvote yours and downvote mine in some imaginary retaliation?monospaced
- If I retaliated, it'd not be imagined unless I'm a figment of your own imagination. No, I seem to only ever upvote things, not downvote.detritus
- I just thought it was odd that someone downvoted my fairly dull suggestion.detritus
- I think it's odd too, perhaps it was the same person who commented on it too? Anyway, you imagined I did downvote you. This is all quite dull indeed.monospaced

I've had the Companion II for years now and they've been superb. Wasn't a Bose fan until I got these. Easily worth the cash.
(I'm assuming the Companion V is the newer version)
- I like the small form factor, too much space taken up with ones above (for me)formed
- Yeah those are nice. It's got a sub and its a lot more expensive and great sound.monospaced
- That volume/mute thing is wonderful, I use it all the timeformed
- This is horribly overpriced shit.mekk

- i use the jbl bluetooth adapter in my house. i think it was like 30-40 bucksscarabin

I like my m2 musicmonitors.
Maybe some audiophiles will disagree with the quality, I mean the brand is so easy to hate if you're a snob. But the sound quality is more than good enough for me.
They're sturdy, full metal casing.
They're practical, small enough to bring with in a bag if you work away from home/office once in a while.

Any good speakers out there a year on from the last post?
I'm looking at BOSE Companion 20 or 50
or these active speakers.
https://www.rothaudio.co.uk/inde…Really want them to thump the shit out of my heart when the bass comes in.
- If you want real bass, you have to get a real subwoofer.monospaced
- Those little Roths will sound very, very nice, but won't go very loud and will not even approach the kind of bass you want.monospaced
- Will the subwoofer on the BOSE be louder than the ROTHS?OctopiStimuli
- the subwoofer should allow the bose speakers to play much louder, yesmonospaced
- but overall, the system is still very small, even as a grouping, so it might not actually be much louder, as I originally thought.monospaced
- if you're just decking out a single desk, either would be amazing ... if you need to throw a little dance party after work, invest in bigger stronger setmonospaced
- Yeah stuck between the the companion 5 and the Roths, Roth have bluetooth built in and charge up iPhone with usb too. might be the best in the long runOctopiStimuli
