Logo of the Table

Was commissioned to design a logo for an event.
The references are:
black & white, elegant vs thrasher, high vs low culture, confrontation.Client said the most important is a logotype (typography only) to be used in flyer, as a stencil or stamp and that a identifying symbol was not their main concern.
But if I could come up with something that would be like a typographic symbol like the one that follows it would be great and taken in account.
The event is like an invitation to dine.
A table, they said, was a good reference.
A tree as table too.It has sort of a Gothic element to it.
And one formal too.Does someone know of some examples of logos that contain tables and for dining events?
Thanks

That brief's a joke, right?

Sounds like they might be trolling you.

It's serious.
It's a performance group that want to organize a dinner Soirée that will join the crowd that will visit a Goth music festival and the city's citizens in a Woirld of contrasts.
Maybe I'm talking too much and some Goth kid will come and kill me in my sleep.
- Goth kid's likely to do for himself before he offs anyone else.Continuity

Maybe this is one of those projects where you don't go looking for examples of someone who solved it before. The brief is clear. What sketches do you have?
- < This. I'd explore different elements of the brief to give them options. All of their ideas in one solution might get a bit messy!MrT

They decided for one of the less developed sketches I had, when I was still playing around with two or three possible directions, what surprised me...
From that sketch I just refined some small details and they were extremely happy with the result because it reflects what they actually want.
I felt weird at the beginning but now I actually like it.
The use of the logo in different media and applications was done by someone else, and I actually like it, something that was planned from the starting point.
I just had to come up with something they could use.
Tomorrow is the big day and I'll be there to help.

Glad to say that the event was a success.
No, nobody talked about the logo but that was not the point :)
